Yep.  It's a pop-up camper.  not actually as small as it looks once you get the top popped.  We have a five foot bed (!) truck with one.  We still get a near-King size bed and 6' 2" of head room (and a heater, LED lights, two vents, batteries, etc.).

So, it's a transformer?!? ;)

Seriously though...I should have known there was more to it.

Yeah the over the cab bed is a killer. ?

Many companies make this with the canvas walls. There is also one made of aluminum? walls called Alaskan camper.

I did see a truck camper that was larger than any I had ever seen before, but I couldn't find it in the hours of dash cam footage to post it. I honestly thought the truck it was on was going to tip over!

A pop-up truck camper is an option I'm exploring for a few years down the road when I'm ready to upgrade from my Kia Soul. I'm just not sure about whether my HOA would allow it.

I saw something like that today.  The dang camper was HUGE and tippy looking.  The driver turned left and I really thought he was going to tip over.  It was obviously too tall and too heavy for the truck.

OTOH, the Four Wheel Camper we have is well under 1K pounds, loaded.  We can go pretty much anywhere on/off road.

Seeing stuff like that makes me want to stay away from it. I don't think I could ever live in a truck camper now. LOL

They made one for a van and one for a station wagon too:

Just think if they were still in business today they could make one for a Prius. Maybe a little bigger than this:

For me the images didn't load. I clicked on the links. When clicking on the second one for the Station Wagon I was presented with one of those fake Microsoft "Your Computer Is Infected" pages. You gotta love when the advertiser's sites get hacked.
