Any and all pointers are needed

Hi and welcome!

Before you touch anything, sit in it for a long time and make a plan.

I see far too many start modifying without doing an overall plan and then they have to re-do things.

Oh and there's a forum set up specifically by schoolies' for schoolies.

They should be a lot of help with the technical stuff.

I recently did some research on buses.
Check with the DMV and determine if you need a CDL license to drive it.
In Michigan you need a CDL to drive anything intended to transport more than 15 people (whether it's being used for that or not).

You may also need to paint it. In Michigan, only official school buses can be orange and black.

You may also have to remove the flashing lights as only school buses can have those.

Yes repaint is on hold because of cold as well as lights
And no CDL not required in ny
But your right these things need to be done
Yeah it's called school bus Chrome the yellow
Can wait for the weather to break

Almost that's my plan to just hang in it get a feel for living in it
Put on paper chalk it out on the floor

Good Luck with the bus.To me,the main advantage to a bus would be the ability to have a wood heater.

Welcome, Shortbusliving! We're glad you're here!

What are your plans for the bus just to take trips in it or to full-time? Will you travel around or stay in the Northeast?

Bob

Hi Shortbusliving, I also have a short bus:

It has a bed, couch, fridge, porta potty, small stove, and I carry a foldup table that can be used outside. None of this is "installed" so that it can be changed as needed.

There is more to do, I would like to make the small entrance door a one piece unit because air leaks in. The roof also needs to be painted but being 73 years old it will have to wait until I can find someone willing to do it.

I plan to live in it and go each month where my money takes me
Looking for real freedom no real plans just go
Maybe just follow the Sun

Any ideas on Who will sell inexpensive insurance
I'm paying 2850 a year or 265 ,a month
I'm with Progressive commercial policy
Killing me

Seems a wee bit high, Have you actually sat down with an agent to discuss it? That might be your best route, in fact you may have to talk to several to get the truth and a better rate.
