I noticed a van in front of me at a stop light today that had a commercial sign indicating it was a courier service.

Perhaps that may be a good way to earn money for van dwellers in cities? Don't know what legalities would be involved but maybe it would also provide overnight parking at a customer's place of business.

Years ago, the company where I worked frequently used a private courier for documents, etc. At that time, the fee for a local delivery was $35, to pick up and deliver an envelope.

For the right person, maybe it's a doable idea.

Some people will use bogus 'Delivery Vehicle' or 'Courier' signs temporarily so the can park illegally in the city. Sort of like the fake 'Service Dog' vests you can buy for your pooch.

Heard of a service lately called Fancy Fingers - works a bit like a pyramid, I think, but I'm really not sure. One does Internet research for the unsavvy. Pay scale is probably low, assignments may not be bountiful. It seems like you work for a manager, then start accruing people to work for you. As I said, I'm not sure of the structure but someone with net access and skills may want to check it out. May pay in Bitcoins, for all I know lol.

It appears that it is called Fancy Hands, I looked up Fancy Fingers and got finger nail salons. It pays by the task being performed, looks like you would be employed by the company it didn't say any thing about contracts. Must have reliable internet and phone service with head phones.

They also have fraud alert on their web site saying that someone other than Fancy Hands has bean offering jobs under their name. Here is their web site: https://www.fancyhands.com/jobs

Don't have any suggestions about types of employment, but I do suggest that you watch how you will get paid. If you are getting paid in cash, as you might be if you put cards in apartment buildings or motels advertising as a dog walker, you may be able to skip dealing with Uncle Sam in April. If you want to self employ by offering a business service, they will want you social security number and will report anything over a $600 yearly total (has the amount changed?) to the IRS. That means a lot of bookkeeping to keep track of your income and expenses as well as self-employment taxes.

Just a reminder. Of course, you may want the IRS to know so that your eventual social security check gets a boost. Only you know your situation.

I have heard of people doing this as well. One, and yes she was bonded and insured, traveled the world has a carrier. She explained there are some companies that just won't use the Post Office or common carriers to take care of extremely important business and it was worth the extra cost to these companies. I would imagine she has had the time to build a reputation and client list for herself.
