I saw an advertisement for this just the other day and I'm like "YESSS" I'm gonna seriously consider using this to paint the interior prior to insulating and paneling my van.

I've read that condensation is a real bummer to deal with, I wanna fight that with every weapon I can.

You'd still get condensation.. though it would probably then roll down/off and form puddles or form on something else to a greater degree. ..Willy

eek, don't want that to happen. I thought there were drainage holes near the bottom of the van walls? I'll have to look and see if that is correct.

I also wondering if it would repel any kind of adhesive I might want to try using? Since chocolate just rolls off of it I wonder.

hmmmm

Well, if ya got wild one night and started flinging around the chocolate syrup, then that stuff would do the trick. The problem with condensation is that it will form on any cold(er) surface. Now, if the surface is hydrophobic and doesn't allow for this, then all that water in the air will just find something else to form on. This can lead to problems (mold) elsewhere. Where it gets particularly nasty is when it's behind/under cushions/bedding. What's generally better is to find some way of reducing the humidity instead and maintaining airflow. ..Willy.

I'm sure I can dream up a use for that NeverWet. Thanks for posting it up.
-Bruce

Some have been applying this to the hulls of surfboards and other water craft in an attempt to increase speed.

The reports are: maybe it is faster. Too many variables to tell.

Most who applied it are board builders, who are use to working with ugly chemicals. They say this stuff is definitely respirator material.

Most report it is not hydrophobic after several surf sessions, and it leaves a rough somewhat chalky texture.

The one guy who praised it liked it on his paddle. With no water clinging to it on the return stroke, it is lighter. No report on durability in that application.

Willy, That appears to be the other side of the coin.
Perhaps I don't need it as much as I thought I might?
-Bruce

wow! ya, that's just EXACTLY what I want my toilet paper to do! haha

unfortunately, after watching a few more "Top Gear Caravan Videos" I've become increasingly paranoid about fire... I bet that stuff is extremely flamboyant. boo!

hehe, ya I also love the raised eyebrow looks from that smart owner of the high top sprinter van (PROBABLY a vandweller!) thinking "those jackasses!"

The toilet paper idea would be GREAT.. could use and reuse the same roll of TP for, like, MONTHS.. even YEARS!! Think about how cool it would be to have something like that for underwear; would never have to launder, just turn it inside-out. ..Willy.

i saw a video on you tube demonstrating super hydrophobic coating. when i heard that rustoleum came out with this i thought perhaps they obtained the patent or rights.

either way, that original video was damn amazing. im sure that the material is not as effective as shown in those video under ideal conditions or with that material being applied to other materials in a professional manner, or incorporated into the molecular structure..than modifying it for consumer application/use.

but its still pretty amazing stuff if you apply it to materials that lend themselves to being coated with a spray.

im eager to try it out on something. porta potti bowl? lol

Rustoleum was invented by fish oil on a steel ship. Fish oil, like any oil will repel water. The oil on my canvas, guns and fishing reels is for the repelling water effect. Nothing new.

Well, just look at that ol' chocolate syrup just slidin' right offa them shoes! Getcha thinkin' is what it does.. Willy.

YESSSSSSS!!!!! PERFECT!!! that is awesome thinking!

and while I can tell that Willy is indeed THINKING!!! I'm sorry darling, I'm shuddering a little bit still lol - I personally won't be applying that product to my underdrawers or TP for that matter.
