image.jpegJust want to relate some experience from a newbie on site but has experience.
Have lived in pull travel trailers/ fifth wheel trailers for some 8 years currently have a 2004 Triumph which is a beast, problem is its huge 38 ft long and trying to camp in some trail head forest places were difficult at best. My old bumper pull would've worked. Or my gooseneck horse trailer. Also had a slide in cab over camper that I lived in for several years and then a2
Horse trailer for a year.currently converting 3 horse weekend ear into a camper.
Lived in my 4 door dodge truck for 8 months.
Never had problem living in any one of my vehicles but the lifestyle I want the conversion of my 3 horse slant load will last me until I no longer travel.

Welcome Stymie!!
That is sooo cool that you are building. Are you choosing the horse trailer because they are so tough? or because you have a horse? And could you park your 4 wheeler in the back like a toy hauler in a slant loader? I am liking the idea of a toy hauler, while seriously looking at an RV that is not a toy hauler. Like I said before, my ducks are never in a row!!  Enjoy the build. - Crofter

because they are tough

I have trained horse for 40 odd years, used to cross I40 from NY to CA with stops in Lexington Ky, OKC.
the small horse trailer I go it in 84, still a good trailer. travel trailers on a whole start falling apart after 5 yrs or so. my 2 cents on that. this weekend package 3 horse slant that I have has ac, max fan, 110 shore power bed in nose cone, insulated. adding more storage. converting stall area into working space with toilet, cowboy shower and other things.. should last me until I get tired or cant travel or crossover.
tough and durable..

Steel or aluminum? Is the whole trailer insulated, or just the living quarters? It looked like durable materials in the LQ like vinyl flooring and cushions, at least the ones I looked at.  - Crofter
