Hi everyone! I am in the process of researching my options for RV life and have done a lot of looking at different types, etc. I am saving to buy a used Class C and there are so many options it has been a bit overwhelming, but I’m Reading what I can find and just looking to connect with others here whom I can learn from and get to know.  :)

Now why would anyone in their right mind want to escape New York? :)

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the CRVL forums FindingDJ! Tell us a little more about your plans. Are you planning on traveling extensively? Will you be camping in campgrounds, on public lands, or blacktop camping in cities? How far do you want to travel on dirt roads? How many amenities do you need or want? How handy are you at fixing problems? All of this will figure into the type and size of van or RV that will fit your lifestyle the best. Smaller will allow you to go more places but cut down on the amount of comfort and roof space for solar panels.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Over the years I've met a lot of NY escapees.  I live where Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky come together and it is a large University district with numerous types of schools.   Many kids from NY come here to go to school as it is MUCH cheaper than NY.   They love this area but are a bit saddened for the people here having to live in poverty. (Appalachia)  But in time they are in wonder at how they have so many skills to cope with it. (what I call Arts of the Poor)  But before they go back to NY after school....they laugh and say....."ya know, Appalachia is an amazing place to visit.....but I don't think I could live there"   ;)

But as to your getting prepared, there are some states which may be a little better to purchase an RV of any type in as it may be lower in cost with lower miles.  In the mid-Atlantic states for instance a lot of people have RV's but don't use them that much and finally decide to sell them. (when their
kids get towards dating age as an example)  Around the Great Lakes region may be another good place to look too.

As for researching,  there are two links below that may interest you.  The bottom one in particular.  It is a portal of handy info to know about in getting ready to be out on the road and living out of an RV full time.

Good luck and all the best.

Ps,  Some of the NY kids (guys & girls)  I met here took me to NYC during the holidays to show me the sites there.  They were some fine people.
And what I saw of NY State was impressive.
