When, Where & How long?

Reaching out to people who've been to Bob's RTR over the last few years.

If you found a job in a Campground or Nat'l Park...where'd you work, when did the season start and when did it end?

*Ten yrs. ago I worked on Lake Mead, NV. Apr. > Oct. 120 deg. + but housing w/ AC was provided. I think I spent 4 summers there.

**Now that i'm in the van I'd prefer farther north...PNW or Northern Cal.

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I've worked in Oregon, where the main camping season is Memorial Day to Labor Day. It depends on the location, and if you return to the same company you will more likely be asked if you want to stay longer talking over more campgrounds. CLM and Hoodoo are the companies I worked for. (Mt Hood NF and Deschutes NF.) Some campgrounds don't open until the snow melts, which can be in July.

As a broad generalization the season is mid May to mid-September. Most jobs are 40 hours but there are part time jobs. RVers have an advantage over us so your best bet is to be willing to go to remote campgrounds the RVers don't want. I worked for CLM Some of our campgrounds in the high Sierras the hosts were in tents or pop-up trailers.

You could be in any state, the further back you are, the less picky they get.
