Yep, the often labeled at the ugliest car is also one of the most versatile cars for camping.  If you get the AWD version you can go on some pretty rugged trails.  You can get a tent extension for the rear of it.  The stereo system has full controls in the rear.  It has a built in air compressor for your air mattress.  Plus, being it is an Aztec it reduces the need for someone to steal it.  How cool is that....

Now that's funny.  It's an odd looking machine...kinda so ugly it's cute.

I think the Aztek was one of the better designed and engineered GM car/suv/whatever it is. It's a shame it got such a bad rap. I think it's a good domestic choice for someone with an active lifestyle and still needs a good daily driver.

I always thought it was the ugliest thing ever, until my daughter bought one and I drove it a few times.
I soon realized that the experience from the driver's seat was a lot more important than the view from outside.  It's a pretty sweet little ride.
Then I bought a Transit van - another ugly duckling LOL

I too (still) think it's ugly, but I knew a guy that owned one and absolutely loved it! I didn't know they had an all wheel drive version?

I almost bought one of these a few years back. Wife nixed it, though... wasn't gonna have something lookin' like that in her driveway.

I kinda like it. :)

I liked them when they came out and still do.  I don't think they are any worse looking than a lot of other cars on the road today, and they are a heck of lot more versatile.   I'm not sure why they got such an over the top bad styling rap.   I'm in the market for a van, but if I was looking for a car, and I came across a low mileage, well maintained Aztec, I'd definitely consider it.

I remember the Aztek being featured heavily on the show Dark Angel. It seemed like the perfect vehicle to use as a mobile operating base in a dystopian future. Lots of space, good ground clearance, nice flat surfaces for attaching improvised armor.

I think it was more of a marketing failure than anything. They seemed to target truck guys by highlighting that it will fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood but there were already plenty of actual trucks that could do that and seat 5. When the Honda Element came out they marketed it as an adventure vehicle for car people and it did much better despite being just as ugly.
