Want to bounce an idea off you. My wife is in late stage Alzheimer's (still very social but incoherent, according to her doctor, and she's also still continent. but both those'll change) and since March of 2020 her 24/7 care with no relief has been by me...whose doctor and therapist both say 'you CAN'T go on like this, a'hole.' (that's a Hawaiian fish, methinx. dunno why they both wrote and called me that. a coincidence? can't rule out collusion) (and 'no relief' means...not being out of sight from her now for more than fifteen minutes, save some months ago when she managed to escape and wander off...a tense couple of hours for daughter and self)

So...here's my thought. Is there perhaps a vanlifer (You, perhaps?) out there who wouldn't mind having a base of ops semi-near to Portland/Salem in swop for such daily care? Not to be sexist, but a woman is preferred.

We'll pay for the safe space for you to park. You'll get some Necessaries on top of that, but can take many free meals in and around us--so that makes it room-and-kinda-board--and you can shower here as well. We'll work out the dumping of your porta. Also probably spring for your laundromat. And you'll have dumpster service.

As you can see, tho', flexibility is expected from both sides. We're retired, she's a former educator, me is Ar-tisst. Much smartful. Me draw bananas on bathroom wall. (extra style points awarded for knowing the quote without Googing it.) Both are personable and easy-to-get-along with. Play well with others. References provided and requested. Ability to see through our Referential lies as we see through yours a plus.

Hey you! Have Home? Can still Travel.

Any suggestions in this direction would be appreciated.

Safe travels to All! We who are parked raise hearts to you. Don't forget: Ours is the evolving society, leaning together on the thick door that keeps out the Madness.

Something that may be of interest to you is the Escapees club’s Care Center in Livingston Texas. If I remember correctly they offer services of adult day care and spouse relief in the form of trips and tours.

check with your local area agency on aging. Google "portland oregon area agency on aging" as a start to get to yours. They have extensive resources to refer you to - no cost - to help with exactly these situations. Also ask your local branch reference librarian for suggestions.

Please take note: if you or a friend of yours might fit this, in replying take heed: I HATE EMOJIS AND CONSIDER THEM......satan's shorthand. And an ugly comment on the society that begat them. I do not attack your right to use and be amused by them, but please don't share them with me. I am old and my wits are like a dull knife felling a tree.

I'll check into that, but the local ALZ association doesn't show any resources in this area. Thanks.

I don't know how her medical is, but hospice may be able to help. They help with people that may last a couple of years. But at least worth finding out about. Or how about a church helping a few hours a week?
