I wanted to start a thread about only online jobs.  If you have first hand experience, or know of someone who has had success working online, please feel free to share here. If this post is redundant...someone please point me to where this post already is :) Thanks.

I'm a salaried employee of a technology consulting firm. Of all the other travelers I've met, I can think of only two or three who have similar full-time remote jobs. One of them is on this forum - ldmccain. He's with AT&T I believe.

Slightly more common are freelance developer types. These might be people that find their own clients and build websites and take payment directly.

Then there are the people that make some money off blogging, advertisements, etc... that's much more common but can be fickle as to what you get out of it. Also those "multi-level marketing" (pyramid scheme) companies are out there and some people have success with them, but I don't recommend them to anyone.

There was a interesting post a couple weeks ago that linked to a company that has a wide variety of online jobs, much like a temp agency. Some was piece work, some was bid...unfortunately I can't remember who posted it or the website...

I tried out Amazon Turk the last few days. It's a great way to make some money online. The tasks are small and mediocre, like taking surveys or transcribing messages. The pay ranges from one cent to $30 for each task, but all the ones i've been doing are usually around .50 cents and take about 5-15 minutes, depending. If you have a couple hours to kill online everyday you could make some good side cash this way, I think.
