Hi all! Long time YouTube watcher, but just now getting in a place I can jump with both feet. I've always traveled. My parents took me and my brother on rendezvous and road trips before I could walk. We would spend summers in our tee-pee, and travel there in the back of my dad's old GMC Jimmy. My father lost his ability to walk, and eventually his life last summer. When he passed, my mom gave me his Hummer H3. While not the car I would have picked for myself, I can't get rid of it either. I look at it and see how much he loved it; how he would come collect all my mom's friends from their silly cars that could not make it out of the snow during the rare southern snow storms; and how we would travel to the Great Smokey Mountains as often as we could. I have decided to make it a vehicle I can use to camp and adventure with as he would want.

I watched so many Cheap RV life videos while sitting with my dad in his last year, talking about a grand road trip. We discussed builds, and I always considered going with a trailer, but I think I am going to start with what I have. I love the idea of the tear drop trailer kitchens, which I may be able to put in the back of the Hummer. I need to measure, obviously, but I think I can put a bed in the back with the trailer facing out. Maybe :) But first, I wanted to reach out, connect with others. I plan to add solar (need to read more about it), and look at insulation. I'm half considering putting the build on YouTube because I have gotten so much out of the ones I have watched. As a teacher in my day-to-day, spread the knowledge, right?!?

Looking forward to joining the community!
