Hey y'all,

i just picked up a 2007 nissan Xterra with 217k on the transmission. I'm in the process of doing some wear and tear maintenance and registering it. My question is, Even though as of yet I don't plan to go too far what kinds of experiences are people having with these vehicles?

TIA

Usually better to ask before you buy. Have it checked out by a trusted mechanic that has some experience with them. Transmissions and head gaskets would be the main concerns although if emissions testing is required in the state you register it in that also can get expensive. Pay special attention to the cooling system as if it overheats it can quickly get too expensive to keep damaging both engine and trans. Did you get any receipts for previous maintenance and repairs?

I bought it from my best friend and her husband. they are in an Offroading club and have owned Xterras For Years now. I haven't gotten any receipts for repairs but they told me what I need to get fixed. Of course it will get a full check up and have my Mechanic look at it. It's not going to be my daily driver so I'll have time to work on it.

How's your Xterra? I just bought a 2002 4x4 with 165K. All original so I did a lot of suspension and steering work and all new fluids as well. All synthetic(ALWAYS) rear and front differentials, trans and transfer case.

Back seats are out and I will be installing a bed platform, pull-out shelves etc. I also have a Thule 16 cubic foot cargo box on top. Plenty of storage. It will be my new home until I buy a cargo trailer and convert into a camper.
