Hey Friends,

I am wanting to try the "vanlife" in my CRV. I just moved to Utah and its by choice, as it is easier to move into my car when I dont have to break a housing contract. I am trying to stay minimal, as I am living off the college student budget and working part-time. I am still doing research on all this, but was wondering if you had any tips on how to make friends while living in your car? I am a VERY social person and outside of eating good food and staying warm, that is my biggest concern (Id take tips on the other two issues as well, as winter will be here before I know it!). Looking forward to learning from all you pros,

I cant give tips on meeting people as I am somewhat a Ogre, But I will say, Dont get so lonely you put your guard down. Be real careful with your trust

I believe a few years ago we had a member that was in Utah going to school that started a web page and moved into a pickup truck. You might try searching Utah student and find it. Winters will be cold and snowy in the northern part of Utah, southern part not so snowy but windy and cold. I think I would be looking at a Prius unless yours is a hybrid in an urban setting just so you could run an inverter with a ceramic heater to stay warm this winter. I would start looking for parking with a plug in for diesel cars to be in this winter or maybe someone that doesn’t use their apartment parking space that has one. Maybe work will allow you to park in the rear and use their utilities as sort of night security? Take a gym class or get a pass to use school facilities for showers. Maybe they will open but with Covid19 who knows.
