I came across this site while reading Ken Ilgunas' book Walden on Wheels and it couldn't have come at a better time. I currently work in Corporate America and make very good money, but like most Americans, I've carried debt ever since leaving college. I'm finally getting near debt-free and I'm planning to make my escape from corporate America at the end of May 2019, and my first destination is Alaska! yes, I'm one of those cliches as it seems like that is everyone's destination that wants freedom
I really like the idea of a Truck Camper so I have 4WD, and it's just my dog and I to go explore. I'm actually a pretty good poker player, so between stops at casino's and then odds and ends jobs at campgrounds and such (when I'm in places like Alaska), I think I'll be able to make more than enough money to sustain my travels.
I don't know if I can make RTR in January, but definitely plan to be there in Jan of 2020 and hope to meet other like minded people!
