I actually went by their facility in El Cajon in the San Diego area. They are stout, insulated and well built. You see them all over San Diego (where I lived for 4 years). They take some time to get delivered after the order is placed and they NEVER answered their phone when I called to inquire about pricing and ordering. Also, they rest on your bed rails so if you are on bad roads like Baja, reinforcing of the bed sides may be necesary. At least that's what I read on some forums.

I understand that his kids took it over and it wasn't being run as well as when the founder was in there. Just what I heard on some forums. I wanted one for my previous Tacoma, but I went ahead and bought the fiberglass Durashell. I think the Callen is roomier and is insulated, so it has some advantages over mine. I got to look inside one mounted on a Ford Ranger pu, very nice. I don't think you could go wrong getting one of these, except for the questionable stability of the company.

I had a fiberglass camper shell on a Chevy long bed 1500 for several years. I built a bed in the back with storage for camping stuff and fishing rods. Loved it. I was surprised at how much cooler it was inside compared to a tent, even in the Texas heat. And certainly provided more protection during a thunderstorm!

Hope that you enjoy yours!

Thanks, I like the water proof nature of mine (no holes in the roof or any seams) and being all white helps ward off some of the heat. With the strong fiberglass and stainless hardware, it's very nautical in it's build quality..lol.
