New to Group

Well, I've graduated from watching the videos to purchasing my 2003 Roadtrek and now I've officially joined this online group.  Hopefully I will have all my ducks in a row and ready for my first trip out by the end of March.  I'm planning on visiting my son in AZ, friends in CO and CA and then make a decision as to what and where next.  I want to try to make RTR in January and if there is one scheduled for this fall maybe that also.  Anyway, I'm looking forward to this new phase of my life and anxious to meet some new friends and share life experiences.

Go Ducks, Sue welcome to the forum. When we moved to Oregon I said this is the place I would normally vacation at. The rain & this year the ice have changed my mind. My daughter has motivated me to adopt the vagabond lifestyle now. Just acquired my van & working on the conversion. Hope to launch in May & maybe make the RTR later.

Yea Beavs!  Living close to Corvallis I support the local team.  Yes this winter has been a doozie and one for the record books.  Become a snowbird and winter in the south and summer and fall in Oregon.  Good luck with your conversion.

My plan:  Spend June-Sept in the Willamette Valley.  Oct-Nov on my property (8 acres) in Idaho.  Dec-Mar roaming around NV & AR.  Apr-May back at my ID homestead, then a return to my wife's home in OR.  I should be able to stay at the casinos & Quartzsite for free, my property of course is free & the only expense I'll incur would be the OR parking of the van at $35 monthly.  $140 annual plus gas (which could be expensive).  I'll continue.

Have you viewed any YouTube videos?  I follow Bob Wells on Cheap RV Living and have learned much from him.  He sponsors RTR (Rubber Tramp Rendezvous) in Quartzsite in January.  I really want to be there for the next meeting in 2018.  I want to do some boondocking but am working up my courage to be off the beaten path and on my own.  I'm not afraid of people but if I have mechanical difficulties I will be in deep doo-doo.  I can make a quilt without a pattern but if the van battery dies....so may I!  Just kidding, but the picture in my mind is not a pretty one.  I have been in ID several times, on our way to Colorado and then on a trip in 2004 through the US to Maine.  I remember a beautiful place down in a valley by a river, but do not remember the name.  This time around I plan to journal names and places...kind of taking time to "smell the roses".  Anyway, your plaln sounds like a good one and I wish you the best in your adventures.
