I've been reading most every thing posted for a long time. I've gotten rigged up pretty well with a Isuzu rodeo, Kawasaki concours, and a 5x8 enclosed v nose cargo trailer set up as a toy hauler ready to go but have a major question. I'm a cardiac patient with a pacemaker that  require that I take warfarifor the rest of my time.  Is any one else n this situation and how do you handle your inr resets I'm thinking that there must be a way. Thanks

Welcome to the CRVL forums strings002! I can't answer your question but hopefully someone else will chime in.

It sounds like you have a great setup! We all love pictures so please post some when you get the chance. :)

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

I don't know anything about your question either but here's a another big welcome to the forums !

Welcome to the forum too!

Medications can be transferred between locations in different states.

Here is a thread:

I think I would be asking my doctor, not a bunch of people on the internet, although we are a pretty good bunch here :D

Tell your doctor that you will be traveling extensively and what would he (she) recommend.  We told my wife's doctor that we were leaving in January and wouldn't be back until November.  She said "have a good time", but DW is not on any life threatening treatment either.

Welcome strings!

My parents used to spend the winter months in Arizona and just had their prescriptions transferred down there. I believe they used Costco.

Welcome and that does sound like a nice set up. I love Concours, those bikes are awesome :)

Getting my scripts is easy as you said Walgreens can do that. My problem is the blood test that is required at least once a month when on warfarin

Do you draw the blood yourself or need a lab? I called a lab here in Yuma that is doing some blood work for me and told them your story. They said lists of lab chains are available on line and can be found in most med and large cities. They send your Dr. the info by computer so it doesn't matter where you are. Hope this helps.

You should be able to use a Walk-in Clinic for blood tests. That's what we did for David. The Walk-in clinic in Roswell sent the test results to the heart clinic in ABQ (200 miles away). Saved us a lot of money. The walk-in Clinic uses a lab that many of the doctors and specialists use. We could have even just contacted the Lab themselves (they are mobile).

I too am on blood thinner for life......  bummer.
Hate getting stuck every couple weeks or so.
Fortunately my Doc changed me from Coumadin (Warfarin) to Xarelto which does not require PT/INR checks and blood draws.  It is more expensive, but my HMO covers most of the cost.  I ain't complaining.
There are several other blood thinner alternatives too.

Welcome from a fellow native :)

I agree with the earlier post that you should ask your doctor what to do while traveling. I'm sure it will not be a problem to get lab draws on the road.

Your right about the alternatives to warfarin but both have pretty spotty safety records and my cardiologist seems happier with warfarin that has been used for about 70 yrs. they know how to control it
