Greetings  :)  It's been a few months since I discovered Bob's forum & website so I can't remember how that came about, but I'm certainly glad that I did! Immediately I began to see the respect & comradery that exists here. I began to see that there's a real possibility of meeting other members and even camping with other members, which tears down the anonymous veil that exists on the internet. I also began to see just how helpful the members of this forum are with each other, genuinely wanting to better someone's life by sharing their experiences & knowledge. To that end, I say thank you to each of you. I've read and learned so much here that I couldn't simply take it and leave, I had to join if only to say thank you and express a sincere gratitude, though it could be fun to run into each other (figuratively). My wife & I have been tent campers for nearly 40yrs in the front country & backcountry, generally taking a month and the backpacks to see what we could see. Now in our 60's, we finally got a little trailer to live in, 16 X 8 or 128 sq ft, and will continue the adventure thru forest & desert, mountain & canyon, and all points in between. The idea of putting solar that tilts on the truck rack to power the trailer is appealing so I'm currently studying on that. Thanks again & hope to see you!!!

We're glad you're here and hope you can join us this winter and we can actually meet face-to-face!

So you are going to full-time in your trailer?

Lots of people here who know lots about solar, feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Welcome aboard!
You seem to have a great background of camping in the boondocks already.
Feel free to ask anything here . AND answer to others questions when you can add something too !

Thanks Bob, glad to be here! Yes, we will full-time and have been working to that end by shedding the accumulated stuff of two decades of owning a home as well as finishing the started projects on the house, and not starting new projects which is not cost effective and may not be appreciated by the future owners anyway. The house was built in the mid 1800's so the job jar is actually a 55 gallon drum. We haven't set a goal date because we both have the mindset of ASAP, so in a way that's our goal date. We want to be at the Winter RTR and I'm glad that you mentioned it as I was wondering if it was going to be. We are looking forward to it and hope to meet you and the many fine folks whose words I've read here and the making of new friendships. I have questions on the RTR & the LTVA's and will search threads and/or start one in a minute.
Thanks for the welcome RVPOPEYE! Yes, as you said, boondocking is second nature to us at this point. As far back as I can remember we've only come back to civilization to recharge, food up, and clean up, either in a campground with facilities or a motel for a night. Some campgrounds would have us stay a few nights as they were so interesting, but the motel was just a night in transit. We generally picked a region and went exploring and based many decisions on the weather. I was a construction worker and between jobs we'd head out and explore.
Thanks for the welcome CautionToTheWind! And thanks for the good luck wish, deciding can be more difficult than it sounds. I generally research the dickens out of the truly important stuff and wing it on the rest, but a poll taken among my family members will reveal a chasm between our ideas of what's important. But I believe that our brethren here have a handle on it! Ciao
