Hello Everyone,

I am the new kid on the block and am looking forward to learning and visiting with you guys!

When I first started my dreaming process I was thinking about a "Tiny House". Then my amazing Dad turned me on to this "Vandwelling" concept. My dreams changed instantly... I loved this idea so much more! Now my Dad has pretty much got his trailer ready and I am working on mine. Hopefully by RTR 2017 we will be ready to hit the road!

Any tips or ideas on starting out on this adventure would be great to receive! I have watched SO many videos on this lifestyle from Bob and many others but I am always open to any suggestions! Workamper ideas as well as pros and cons I would love to hear about.

Thanks,

Texas Lady Camper  :)

Welcome to the CRVL forums camperTX! You're at a good starting point because you can see what your Dad did with his trailer and get some ideas of what you want and don't want. Welcome TLC!

You can do a "search" for workamper on this forum (or alternate spellings) and find several threads I'm sure. Also, there is a ton of info on working for Amazon and national parks seasonally on Becky's blog (she even shares dollar info so poke around her site):

Hope this is helpful. A general request for tips is sort of difficult to answer as this whole forum is a vast warehouse of tips! LOL As you come across specific questions to ask here, you'll find lots of folks eager to provide some answers.

I've been workamping since 2003 and have worn many hats over the years.
I found most of the jobs in Workamper News magazine that I subscribed to since 1995.
Good free sites to find them is workamping jobs.com and coolworks.

Nat park jobs are mostly through concessionaires like Xanterra or Delaware North.
Also towns next to National Parks always need to hire seasonal help.

Amazon hires for the winter rush.

Pumpkin and Christmas Tree lots.

Fireworks tents.

The beet harvest in the northern midwest.

Theme parks.

Just drive into a campground and ask.

Every seasonal tourist areas hire . I know a lot of places here in Maine closed early because of not being able to find help.
Places that hire college kids always need fill in help after the kids go back to school and early help before the kids get out.

Bob has info posted about his work for the forest service .

Lots of possibilities out there.

Pay goes from trade for site only to minimum to real good if you have skills doing something they need . Always ask up front what the compensation package is and if the pay is W2 or self employed 1099(I personally avoid those). Sometimes you can get some nice bennies like free food , propane , discounts in the store , tickets to neighboring attractions.................
