G'Day from Australia.
Im Jeff . My wife and i are planning to van around the USA. we have a rough plan, and no doubt i will have a few questions for you.
We have toured around the USA before on a Harley trike, but this time the plan is Van and Motorcycle.

when are you thinking of putting these plans into action?? What kinda budget do you have asside for the van and the m/c??
Are there any parts of the country that you want to check out in particular?? (we particularly love Southern Utah...Bryce, Zion, Moab, Arches, Lake Powell, and the Grand Canyon NP's are all in this region.)

What part of Aus are you from?? We have a close family friend from Addelaide.

we are in early planning for approximately this time next year 2015. we planned the 2013 tour to fit in with Sturgis bike rally which is early August. we loved America and American people so much we couldnt miss out on doing it again. we crossed through 21 states. saw most of the places you mentioned
we live between Brisbane and the Gold Coast in sub tropical Queensland.
we want to see Dallas. more of the Smokey and Blue mountains, new york, Sturgis again, Colorado. and whatever else we see along the way. it has to end in Los Angeles to ship the bike home. i promise to give the Van if it makes it to LA, to a forum member.

I'd start by hitting Sturgis first, then head out to the New England states, and work my way South, and then West from there. There's alot to see back East, and some spectacular scenery!!!
