Hi Everyone. I was a member of this site a year ago and shared my box truck conversion with ya all...then I fell off the face of the earth for a few months and forgot my log in information. So here I am again with a new name. I took a seasonal job in Alaska, sold the box truck and just purchased my first van. I move into the van in two days. Its gonna be rustic as I just had to sink my savings into a new water pump and serpentine belt. So I'm gonna just throw a bed into the back and work on it as money allows...I do have water, portajohn and electric provided where I am parked so that is helpful. I appreciate all the valuable information provided in this forum. Without all of you, I would never have chosen this route. Thanks! Jody

Welcome Jody!,
After putting all that time into the truck, why did you get rid of it and your stuff?
What made you choose a van second time around then a truck again?

Yes, It is always interesting to hear why someone makes the decisions they do. I always learn something from it.

Welcome back Jody. A seasonal job in Alaska sounds great, especially with facilities provided. Hope the van and the job work out well for you.

Jody...Good to have you back. Congrats on the van, hope you enjoy doing your van build.
We're also downsizing to a van. More MPGs, more travel for us.

Take care, be safe.

Though it was a very cool set up, I found that the box truck did not "feel" safe to me - it had only one egress and I kept thinking what if a bear comes through that door....not to mention two legged animals. As a woman traveler I wanted the ability to jump up and drive away. It was great fun to build the box van out and I was able to sell it to a like minded artist. I chose a van for the price/size/comfort. It is more comfortable to drive than the box truck and definitely more stealth if I need it! Also, when I came to Alaska, I had reserved a cabin on site to live in. Then I saw the van and I though...heck I could own it for what I'm putting into rent!! (Once its in your blood you cant ever really go back, can you?)
