The Magnificent Seven is a remake of the Japanese-language film Seven Samurai.   :p

How about the upcoming release of the remake of Ben Hurr (sp?). More computer generated, poor screen play and story line crap, I bet!

Just read they'e remaking Unforgiven, Clint Eastwoods film. Ken Watanabe is remaking it into a samurai film.

One of the demographics with the greatest disposable income are 13 year-olds spending their parents' money. 13 year-olds haven't seen whatever your favorite movie is. This means it makes good business sense to murder your classic and rehash it for a sale. Chalk it up to capitalism and don't spend your time getting frustrated about it.

A new "Maginficent Seven" coming out too.  This will make the fourth different "Chris" (Yul Brenner's character in the original).  Of course it was a western remake of Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai".

It already happened. Unforgiven (2013)

Wonder if it was any good.  I only go to the movies, or rent anything new once every couple of years... so I guess I'll never know.  ;)

My biggest upset is over a remake of Pete's Dragon.

Why bother to use the same name if it is a different story?

It was bad enough when they did True Grit.

:dodgy:

I look at it this way.
Originals ....are great ! Can't deny that !!!!!
Remakes.....some are a waste of time and some are very entertaining .

Some producers DON'T seem to be able come up with original ideas
so they do remakes , if it sucks , they don't make very much $$$$$$
self regulating ????

I never go to the theaters and usually wait for DVD or discounted DVD !
By then the good ones are easier to find....and more people to tell you which ones they liked .

Casablanka,
The Quiet Man,
The Godfather,
Pulp Fiction,
LOTR, Return of the King,
The Shawshank Redemption

None of these should be remade ever.
