I haven't even SEEN an Airedale in more than 20 years!

Have you ever read Gasoline Gypsy by Peggy Thomas?  It's about a young English woman traveling on a motorcycle in the early 1950s with her Airedale.  She arrived by ship in eastern Canada (Halifax?) and drove across Canada, took a ferry to Seattle, then went down through WA, OR, CA and into Mexico, caught a freighter to cross the Gulf of Mexico, into FL and up the East Coast.

It's been reissued as A Ride in the Sun:  https://www.amazon.com/Ride-Sun-Gasoline-Gypsy/dp/0956116841

Don't let the drawing on the cover irritate you -- the dog had his own box on the back.

A little more detail might me helpful.   :D  Like where you are, where you want to travel, what are your expectations, etc... lots of us have pets and like most other types of pets.
For example, right now, I've been spending 4 months in the boondocks of South Central Colorado, and I plan to spend some time in AZ later, then travel up the coast of N. Cali , north of San Francisco.

I have an Australian Cattle Dog named Lacy.  She's pretty fearless when it comes to other dogs.  She doesn't initiate fights but will try to defend herself.  If she can't , she runs to me!  hahahahah.  and Stands behind me!   I'm the Alpha.

So, let folks know.  Like Trainchaser said, I have been around an airedale in a while, but if it's a dog and not extremely hostile or barky, I'll like it.  I love dogs.

That sounds great!  It must be a true story?  Who would make that up?  An Airedale on a motorcycle... what a hoot!  I will definitely check it out.

Hmm.. I wrote a detailed response but lost it.  Silly phones!

I'll try to recap the gist.

I am now in east Bay area migrating north for work but it's flexible.
I am an artist and photographer and sometimes model.  Looking for work on farm or ranch ideally but whatever pays the bills.  My itinerary is flexible.

Last try...

I'm in east Bay area now migrating north from Los Angeles. My itinerary is flexible.

Spikey will be 10yrs in a couple weeks. He has a big personality and loves to be the Alpha dog.

That's the short version. Send a pm if you are interested in details. Having posting issues.

Last time I was camping up on Mt.Lemmon (AZ), I was next to a couple with an Airhead, oops, I meant Airdale. They were in a 15 foot trailer. Aside from a woof or two, I didn't hear a peep.

I've had four Airdales and would get one for traveling, but my van is too small to fit a large crate. I believe in crating dogs. I'll be getting a smaller, medium size dog. Last three dogs I had were mutts from the pound, but in the van I need a non_shedding dog. I haven't figured out what kind. I'm kinda partial to Velcro dogs.

Don't know anything about Airedale's, but, as far as a dog traveling on motorcycles.... well, Leo took a trip from Florida to Washington DC, then on to Denver, and then back to Florida. I must say, he was very comfortable in his cocoon.  :)
