I just seen a nice limo on facebook going for 2k :D It got me thinking, though you would definitely attract attention, cops probably wouldnt think to harass you and of all the vehicles that have dark tint, limo's can have the darkest without a second glance. I guess parking would be a downside. the interior on a lot of them are pretty cushy anyway with leather benches prolly sleep on one, and some even have mini fridge and lighting inside :D

The main drawback I see is the cost of having to hire a chauffer:dodgy:

Thinking outside the box,,,, like it.

Park at the airport, hotels, civic center,,,, then make money as a Uber driver

I just did some looking around, tons of room, good MPG, off the shelf parts, they're all around at good prices, plenty of roof space. Why is nobody sporting one of these?

My thoughts are that a company that owns limos won't put it up for sale until the mileage is ULTRA high. I would guess that a used limo would be a money pit, with new mechanical problems coming up all the time.

or they went out of business...people dont do the limo thing as much any more.

A limo company here has a stretch Hummer H2. That would be an interesting camper conversion, if one installed a raised roof. Of course gas mileage would likely suck....... :)

Since I live in New England, I'd pay real careful attention to condition of the structural conversion aspects -- is the frame and body tight and rust free, especially where the custom center portion was added, especially the ends where the extra and original body comes together? Rust? Run!

Otherwise, could be fun. Just that all the length of an RV, not too many of the benefits. Both stealthy and not -- limo will stick out like a sore thumb just about anywhere, but no one would think someone's living in one...

just a little real world experience here to bring everybody down to earth. limos have hundreds, maybe thousands of parts that are not off the shelf. I found this out when I had my shop and we had an account with a limo company, for repairs and service. many parts are custom one of a kind and must be built from scratch. even parts you wouldn't think of are hard to come by. most limos are ford Crown Victoria's. however they share very few parts with the regular crown vic. ford builds these especially for limo service. they have many parts off of trucks, cars, and vans. it's up to you as the mechanic to figure out what is what. one of the limos we worked with got in an accident, bent the rear axle. the owner sent it to the body shop first then to us. well come to find out the rear axle was a modified truck axle ford only installed these on limo chaises. there were none of these available at the time and we searched high and low. we finally had to put in a truck axle but then the antilock brakes didn't work, because the truck rear ends and the limo rear ends used different anti lock interfaces and could not be combined to get to work. we tried everything. no go. so they just drove it with no antilock. highdesertranger

Oh yeah here a go, great for stealth eh?
And how about that turning radius?
But hey it's 8WD right?

Here's the ticket.....

try living in a hearse!!

Look...it has tons of room, already has a 'sleeping' compartment in it, and if you kept a coffin in the back, you could sleep in there. All warm and cozy!! :)

...but could imagine the face of the guy who gives you the late night knock...and you came crawling outta your sleeping chamber????? (I'd be sure and wear lotsa black!!) :p :D

correction on my previous post. ford Crown Victoria's are primarily used as police cars. limos are primarily Lincoln Town cars. highdesertranger

Some of the posts I see on this site put me in mind of a line spoken by Sean Connery in the movie THE LONGEST DAY:

"If you ask me, there's a lot of very peculiar blokes wandering around on this beach!"
