Leaking Window

I installed a window in my van last spring. This week I went on a trip and for the first time I camped in the rain. It was raining pretty good and I noticed a slight leak at the bottom of the window....just enough that a paper towel was able to hold the water that got in. I used a high grade sealant around the window and I am 99.9% sure it's not leaking in around the trim. I believe that it's leaking in between the window and the seal. When I got home I examined the window and tried to find the source. Something appeared to me and I thought I would ask your opinion. The window has 4 plugs in the frame. I am wondering if these might be weeping holes that would allow any water that got in the track to leak out. Should I remove the two bottom plugs?

You might check how well your window is sealed along the top on the outside. "Gravity falls" et all ya know?

Sliders always have drain/weep holes...............I often find leaking windows with tracks clogged with "forest" debris

Looks like it has plugs in the weep holes. It was designed to be used as a universal unit on the left or right side so there are 4 weep holes in yours so it can be switched in orientation. Remove only the plugs that are located on the bottom edge, but leave the plugs inserted on the top edge in place. A small, flat blade screw driver should be able to pry them out without damaging the window unit.

Hopefully you installed the window with the movable section towards the rear to help reduce wind driven rain infiltration while driving. If not you need to reinstall the widow by rotating it 180 to help prevent water issues. The fixed pane section of a slider should always face towards the front of the vehicle.

JDub......I did check that first. The seam around the window is airtight, not even hair line cracks.....I was very, very meticulous when I was sealing the trim to the van.

Maki2.....Yes, the fixed window faces the front of the vehicle. That is what I thought when I saw the 4 plugs. I tried to find the original paperwork to confirm it......but I could not find it. Thanks!
