The loss of Highdesertranger drives home that one person can have a great impact. I never got to know him and wish I had. I do know that he had a great wealth of knowledge and was generous with it. We learned what we could from him and now we can no longer ask him for advice and information.
There is a whole thread dedicated to his memory and I encourage you to check it out.
https://vanlivingforum.com/showthread.php? tid=44411&highlight=Highdesertranger
I started this thread to help continue the sharing of knowledge. It's good to be able to have questions answered, but sometimes you need to take a deeper dive and get answers to questions you haven't though of, yet. You need resources of knowledge.
I know of someone who has a good deal of information on issues that concern us: living on the road, solar power, E-bikes, improvised hygiene, DIY and a lot more. His name is Carlin Comm. Here is his website and Youtube channel:
https://www.carlincomm.com https://www.youtube.com/c/CarlinComm
I have learned a lot from watching his material, perhaps you might as well.
He's living almost entirely off the income from his Youtube channel and his supporters. There is potential for a mutually beneficial situation here. You can learn something and he gets a better Youtube channel.
This thread isn't just about him or me, it's to get something rolling. I am asking for any one to post on this thread any other sources of information that are useful to our way of life. It's one thing to be able to ask questions, it's another to all ready have answers, depth and context. What we have here is great I am just trying to give back and ask if you can do that too.

Does no one have anything to share?  A library with a good reference section of repair manuals?  A hobby shop on base for vets?  A good thrift store?  A website?  A health clinic?

Anything?

I shared something. It only took me 25 years to figure it out. I created hundreds of simulations with a computer and even built a version of artificial intelligence that worked like it. Two years ago I simplified it to work much like stock trading. I created a set of rigid rules in order to have others validate it. In other words a fixed experiment. I gave it all away for free.

I shared it here among nomads and full timers because I was deeply impressed by the movie 'Nomadland.' I've had a deep background with full time RVing. I just started the idea that I would get self contained and boondock.

Now my van build is going on and I'm documenting it with pictures. I'm doing this because I know people will ask how I did it. One day I will be able to guide people in person that struggle learning what I have taught. Human nature is so powerful that most people are rightfully skeptical. But that's a mistake. This time it's the real thing. This is the only place outside of two gambling forums where my research and discovery is explained or discussed. It's not openly discussed because nobody has any questions.

So I wait. I mean somebody from here is studying from the teaching thread. I'm getting huge traffic because of people from here. I can't force people to learn. Perhaps there is just too much fear in people. You know, 99.9% of people that gamble do so with an almost perfect record of losing what they bring to gamble with. What I have done is to change the world. I gave away a very important and powerful secret. I did this because I don't expect to live much longer. I've been living with heart failure for 14 years.  It would bring me great joy to know that I was able to pass on this secret. The world went batSh*t crazy when counting cards was discovered back in 1961.  They will do the same with this.

I've placed it in your laps. All I hope for is that a few of you master it.  I have taught people how to walk along and find bags of gold just laying there for those skilled enough to grab them.  So there will come a time where it is too late. The casinos will shut it all down. The world will go crazy over this, just like back in 1961.  This is not some pie in the sky Martingale progression. It requires awareness of conditions, just like counting cards. Only this time you are tracking coincidences in phases.

Thanks Gizmotron.  If you don't mind can you put a link here to that thread?

You are welcome. I will get to that right away. I created a link for here to support the teaching thread. I have never done that before. One other gambling forum asked to discuss it while I was writing the teaching thread. But here I will answer questions in order to really help people with any difficulties. The teaching thread is now more than two years old. First I will post the link for the discussion thread here.

Here: https://vanlivingforum.com/showthread.php?tid=44339

Now as far as the actual Reading Randomness teaching thread goes. That gambling forum is full of people that claim that they can win. TurboGenius is the world renowned crash test dummy when it comes to systems. He never ends up explaining how he does it enough so that anyone can figure out what he is doing. He's been doing that for around 20 years now. About every three or four months someone comes along and sucks all the oxygen out of the room once they have discovered the Martingale progression, doubling down. That takes up all the attention for a few months. The reading randomness thread is about to go over 300,000 views. It had its time in the spotlight. I had to fend off the skeptics and the math centric absolutism types in order to get my word out. I'm just telling you that I placed this thing amongst the usual Baloney Festivals, con artists, and losers pretending to be masked and caped crusaders.

Here is the link. It takes at least the first 10 pages to where it really gets going. But there are very important points made there that set the foundation to obtaining the needed skills. I've created a lot of pictures. So have others. You need to register and log in to see all the images in their full sizes.

Almost every thread on this forum is a teaching thread. Ask nearly any question and you will get multiple teachers with real life experiences showing you how to solve the issue in a variety of ways. It's not just what to do or buy but also why. Often there are multiple solutions and the discussions involve the differences and why they work for each individual.

I spend time here and at one time was putting it on a YouTube channel. Where I can do the most help is in person. I get a lot of raw newbies wanting solar on new rigs that they don't really know how to use. They not only learn about their solar system in depth but also where to go, how to find boondocking, water, food, RV dumps and places to get rid of their trash. They learn how to act and not abuse the resources so that they don't make the community look bad which can affect us all in the future. Some don't like to hear some of it because they want to do whatever they feel but as we saw in Flagstaff this year you may think that you got away with it but next year there are fewer places to camp. We jokingly call it Jimmy's assisted RV living or as the person getting solar right now calls it, Boondockers boot camp.

Never be afraid to ask why a person is giving the advice that they are. Say thanks for the info. Please tell me how you came to that solution. In the case of solar ask what is your system? How big is your battery bank? Why did you pick those components? What do you do with it?

The reason I mention this is because from time to time even on this forum you will find a person that seems to know everything about everything. They never can answer the questions that back up their knowledge because they don't have a system. They have never pushed the button and seen what actually happens. The only thing that they are a expert at is pushing the enter button on a search bar and copy/ paste the Google answers here. When it comes to solar I can tell you that after learning it and helping hundreds of people over the years that until you actually have solar and have pushed the button you don't know anything no matter how much you read or how many videos you watch.

I share on this forum all the time. But truthfully am not at all motivated tonshare by your popping in and basically putting up some tyype of "demand performance" request that people share knowledge. It is not in the nature of the natural flow for how it happens. It happens related to specific subject matter which is why there is a long list of sections and topics This whole forum was built on the premise of sharing and acquiring knowlege.

But dont worry you will soon get the hang of finding the specific knowledge you are seeking and also sharing what you know, without creating chaos out of the practical ways it is already being presented and stored for easier access.

I have learned so much from others from here regarding solar. I thought I wanted some suitcase type solar panels with a power-station setup at first. I found out from one of Bob's videos that I wanted permanent shade from solar panels on a well insolated roof instead. I wanted a little charging while driving. Then I found out that individual components was a better way to go. If I had to ship back a power station I could be weeks if not months without power. And in the end it was cheaper too. I was informed by others here that it would be.

It's in talking and speaking up that many came forward as I build my van. People wanted to know why I was using thick plywood for instance. I did it to bridge right over uneven spots in the Ford E-350. I did it so that I would have hard points anywhere I wanted them as I was going to have more than one interior wall in my design. I know that I'm different in my build. I welcome these questions that come from real curiosity. In some cases I changed my plans. I can see that others just want to help. So I think about it. I'm grateful that I made the changes to my solar plans. I like to cook things in my Ninja Foodi pressure cooker / air fryer / broiler. You need a monster sized solar setup or an excellent generator and a good enough solar setup. Having a generator allows me to charge the battery when there isn't enough sunlight or when I use the Ninja. It can be excellent when running power tools for doing van builds. So I have found my balance point.

All this is about knowing what you want. I see sharing as the result of already having obtained experience. I pretty much know what I want because I have over 20 years experience full timing in an RV and membership resort parks touring. I have always been connected to the grid. There was always water, dump stations, and shore power. Some people I knew in the past went down to Quartzite for the winters. They told me how good it was to boondock. So now I get to be a newbie and explore off the grid.... and I love it.

yea, I agree with this.
plus we are SO all over the place, such diff. locations that my local good great share would be useless to those out in the desert or ?? so mostly it is share internet info for all to access?  I don't know but I like what Maki said here.
