I am thinking about getting one of these:

KELTY CARPORT

to use with my Sienna minivan.

Set up for privacy it could be used for hygiene, changing clothes. Would also provide a place to sit with shade/rain shelter, or to set up a small table to cook/eat on.

My plan is to travel anywhere from 3-4 days to 3 weeks at a time, using the Sienna as a hard-sided tent. I'll be in bear country (east TN & Rockies), and a woman travelling alone, so want the security of a hard-sided vehicle at night. But it's a little tight on space, and I'm tall, so a taller shelter would make life more comfortable.

Just wondering if anyone has ever used one of these, or seen one used, and what experiences/opinions you might have.

It looks like it will work well, it will only be as tall as your van so how convenient it is for you will depend on how tall you are. Kelty makes good products.

That looks ideal for what I need. I wonder if it could be adapted to a van? I am blessed to be the keeper of my daughters cat and he is an inside cat , that might allow him some space. And me some room too.. Good idea. Thanks.

No doors, not 'bug proof', doesn't reach the ground, so Kitty could get out easily, not nearly tall enough for us Tall Folks......
I personally couldn't use it. But others have different needs.

There's a whole slew of manufacturers out there that make tents that attach to vehicles.

Google 'tents that attach to' and then name your vehicle style (van/suv/car/brand) and you'll come up with a wide choice.

While Kelty make good products there may be something more suitable out there for you...more headroom, etc.

I've looked at the SUV tents that fasten on the back. They are a little more involved setup than I want to handle alone, and probably more space than needed. Maybe will start with the Kelty Carport and move to something bigger if needed.

Looks like you've researched it and this would work for you. Let us know how it goes.
