But have hade no luck finding anyone to fix the gasget so am stuck in Hubbard Ohio. Start trying to find a repair shop tomorow.
It can only get better because my retirement will be good  :shy: :shy:

Welcome to the CRVL forums eng72. Sorry to hear your maiden voyage isn't all sunshine. Just think though, once those two things are fixed they are two less things that can happen down the road.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome to the CRVL Forums   :)

If those are the only bugs you can scare out of it, then you're doing OK.

If you can find a small independent shop that installs mufflers,  Shocks, and Tires....they may take a look under it for you and inspect the blown gasket.    It may not be that big of a job to replace it.  May be worth them replacing both if it is the asbestos Donut gasket that goes between the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe.

Like so:

If it's the gasket that goes between the engine and the exhaust manifold then that may be a different matter.

You just need to find out "which" or "where".

Good luck and all the best with your repair.

Well got the truck going still a little loud but runs ok I am curtly in Tomah Wisconsin and will be in Idaho along route 90 any suggestions for dispersed camping along this route would be apreaciated as I have to stay in one place for a wile to preserve finances as fixing truck cut into my reserves but at least all is working now

Be careful about any exhaust leaks. CO can make you very sick or kill you. Be safe.

Also on Long Island. Where did you leave from and where you heading!

Welcome aboard !

Those two repairs would have happened if you had only be driving around town too.

You found repairs away from your home.

You'll be just fine on the road if you did that.
