I am in the process over the next 5-10 years of moving to living mobile and off the grid. So this month has been just reading and planning for my journey to come. In 8 years my youngest will be out of high school and I will be read to move to my next phase of my life. My goal is a conversion van with a fish house trail that will carry my girl friends motorcycle and mine. My first order of business is the van and the DYI conversion. I plan on doing this while still a home owner so it can morph into what we want it to be. The other part is to move income to a more  mobile platform. I am in IT and hope to find roles in the future where I can do that from the comfort of my rig. Anyway, i look forward to reading and learning from everyone and anyone.

I am a newcomer here as well.  It sounds like you have a great plan and loads of fun ahead.  I look forward to watching your progress. So much to discover in so many areas I know you will never get bored.  Happy trails and I'll be keeping a look out for you ahead.

Best,

Welcome to the CRVL   :)

I think you are approaching this in a very practical manner.  I would put part of my energies on finding internet
employment skill sets that would lend themselves to mobile living and working while on the road.  The other part of your quest could be focused on learning the methods of living on the road, prepping your Rig,  and getting some week end camping experience so you would be ready when the time comes.   (if you don't have much of that experience)

I'd invite you to look through my websites below for any ideas you can use.

Welcome cr2Jones... I've been planning my lifes transition for about 5 years. If I hadn't stumbled onto Bob's Youtube Channel and this forum, I'd still be sitting in a condo in California fighting the rat race. I'm still in California but purchased my RV and am living in it full time in a very nice RV Park. Saving money, educating myself on the RV lifestyle and preparing for my run off the grid. Can't wait!

Good Luck on your preparation and adventure!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I will look at the sites and blogs you guys send my way. If I could make it happen sooner I would!

Cory.
