On the road for summer
So, Mr. Bob is off to Alaska with Judy.
Mike is gonna be making signs...not that it will keep him out of trouble :D
A Grinning Panther is still wondering what state will suit his needs for mailing, etc.
Patrick is holding the fort up in Coos Bay and dreaming of his next creation.
Van Tramp is a new resident of SD and has a newly remodeled rig.
Some folks are settling into their "new" wheel estate, some with a bit of trepidation (we've all been there).
And....we're off to N. Mexico (yes, that's in U.S. zip codes) in a few days, and then up to Colo for July. Who knows where from there ;)
We'll be looking toward the higher elevations for some cooler weather.

What roads are calling out to y'all now that summer is upon us??

The Road Not Taken

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Summer is my busy time of the year. As June progresses I'll be getting busier every day as we make the final push at work to get the summer show ready. By the time the end of the month rolls around I should be working twelve to fourteen hours a day, seven days a week. Come July, I'll get a few days off around the 4th. Then it's straight on through, seven nights a week with days as needed from July 7th. until September 5th. or 6th.

Good thing I love what I do or I'd go nuts working this schedule. Fortunately, once the show opens, while it's every night for the better part of two months, I'll only be working four to five hours a night, leaving my days free.

Between five years of over-hire and fourteen years on staff, in the last nineteen years I've only missed one performance, and that was for my twenty year high school reunion.:D

For me this is the time of year where I have to pretend to be normal and get an apartment for 2 months. Vegas in summer while working overtime is just too much.

Mid-July I'll be looking for cooler weather in Colorado and applying for road gigs.

If anyone is looking.......I'll be in the finer parts of New England !!.....planning on NH , VT and upstate NY for this summer with alot of time in the N.F in vermont...Stop By!!!!!!

Patrick is (actually) preparing his chopper Frankenstein for the roadtrip back to Wisconsin in August. (GAD...I'm NOT looking foreward to that heat though!!!!) :p
Probably gonna ride North through Canada on the way home, re-enter the U.S. at Glacier N.P., and head due West for the coast!
Should be putting on around 7000 miles.....I can't wait!! I NEED a good roadtrip!! :D

oh, as for my 'next' creation...I've gotta finish my hot-rod truck project FIRST, before I start anything else. And once it's done, I'm very likely gonna be moving outta my big shop, and bringing the biz back home. (if I even stay here) :-/

Cool. Are ya gonna be packing the OL along on the run or going solo??
Kinda nice having a couple soft ones to lean back on during those long stretches :D

Getting my street rod ready for show season. THEN I can complete my camper build. Road trip starts in September. -- Spiff

I'm not sure if she's gonna ride there with me or not, as she has absolutely NO INTEREST in going through Sturgis, and I'm planning on spending the better part of a week there...maybe working there too!

But she will be riding back with me I'm sure. She loves riding every bit as much as I do.

btw...don't ever call her my 'OL' in front of her, if you wanna keep your eyeballs in their sockets, and not scratched out!! :(

(that's onna those 'biker' phrases she cannot stand!)

Very nice, Cowboy :)
Robert Frost is an old favorite, glad you posted it.

Sometimes, often when I'm stressed by the world around me, these words creep into me and take me to another time. It helps to stave off the minutiae of "civilization".

I'll bet I sure could. I know several people there who will be running up Mt. Lemmon where its cooler.

Cowboy....I know what you mean :)

I'm in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. We'll be in Alaska in two days. Got hit by a snowstorm in Fort Nelson, BC. Otherwise, great trip!!
Bob

Telluride, Colorado......A spectacular area and a remarkable town. Cold at night! Lots of things to do and places to camp! !

"I LOVE COLORADO!"

I'm with you Sameer! I love Telluride and that whole gorgeous part of Colorado. You could easily spend you whole summer near there and then in the fall head a few hours over to Moab, UT which is my favorite place in the country!
Bob

I am having a lot of fun! And Moab in the Fall sounds perfect....!
