Sorry, I was thinking Isuzu Amigo. It came with a soft top .

No problem. I just did not understand the reply. I appreciate any info or advice as I am new to this concept. And it sounds perfect for me if I can figure out how to do it.  I had been dreaming of a tiny house but have no place to park it, or pull it.  And it seems the price tags have gone through the roof.
But I do own an older Isuzu Rodeo and a very small social security check. I really do not want to end up spending what is left of, my life in senior housing. And please understand that I am not dissing senior housing.  For some people it is  wonderful.  I am just not one of those people.  I need some freedom and wide open spaces and fresh air. So reality is I have a Rodeo and I just need how to make it work for me. Thank God for Bobs You Tube videos and this website. Trying to learn a lot and figure out how to make this work.  Thanks again.

A lot of people may be tired of me saying this, but there are people who travel the world with a back pack. You can fit a lot of back packs into a vehicle. It is all a matter of what you need for yourself to be comfortable.

If you have the bandwidth, Youtube is a great place to see how others use the same type of vehicle. Try a Youtube search for SUV camper, or camper shell camping.

Tiny houses are facing some problems, (zoning laws, not really built for constant travel etc.). Small trailers are also an option for you. They do not do stealth type of city camping well, but if you are a public land camper, they are just fine.

Very good thought. When you put it like this, it lets me know just how dependent I have become to things.
Thanks.... I am now looking at the possibilities of just how little I would need to be happy and carefree. From what you say, the less things the more carefree you will be.

What I mean is different people have different comfort levels. One may only need a camping pad and a sleeping bag. Another may need 4" foam pad with sheets, blankets, comforter. One person can cook on a single burner propane stove, another may need 3 burners and an oven.

The basic items are something to wear, something to eat and drink, a place to sleep, and a place to get clean and dispose of wastes, (of all types). All of these things have multiple options. You can go basic or elaborate. What I would choose may be very different than what you would choose.

Some people need a lot, some very little. So what you should have to get started is what YOU need to get started. I wouldn't stress too much over it all. Within a short time you will know what you want to have with you. This is not a test that you have to get right the first time. You could go camping for the weekend. Make notes of what you wish you took , or things you didn't need. Then go camping for a week, then two weeks, etc. By the time winter RTR gets here you may show up as a seasoned pro.

Hi Moondancer.  Have you considered a folding solar charger and a battery pack?  Folded, the solar charger I use is a little bigger than a paperback book.  The battery pack is a little larger than an Altoids tin.  These are what I use to keep my electronics charged. They will fit in your glove box and leave room for other things.  The battery pack charges my phone or tablet four or five times before it needs recharging. Amazon has a ton of the solar chargers and the battery packs in whatever size fits your needs.  For well under a hundred dollars I can keep my electronics charged with those two items.  The battery pack will also power a USB light and a USB fan--for how long I don't know because I have not used it in this way.  Kudos to you for researching your best possible life.  I'm looking forward to hearing about your adventures.  Don't wait too long. . .I'm old.
