The Habitat for Humanity with sponsorship from Lowe's holds an annual event at a number of cities across the USA in Canada as well as a few other countries. You can learn building skills and/or volunteer your labor if you already have skills. March 8 every year is International Women's Day which is why these build day special events are being held then.

But not only on this day is the Habitat for Humanity teaching building skills to women they are doing it in many places at many times on various projects and in tutorials too.

There are likely to be some men as instructors as those instructions are professionals in the building trades. Remember it is not just carpentry, there is plumbing, electrical, etc. While they are not building out vans you will still gain a lot of skills while at the same time helping others to have a new home of their own.
