Why would anybody in their right mind sell a van on Craig's List for $3500 when a dealer would give them $8000 for it?

Personally, I think 190,000 miles is more than I would be comfortable with.  This thing will probably wind up costing you $$$ for repairs fairly soon.

FWIW, I ran the Vin # and this has the 6.8 V10 engine and came with a factory towing package.

Yeah, the $8k vs. $3.5k didn't make any sense to me unless it's a typo.  I don't mind putting some money into mechanical since I'll be saving on the build.  If I go with a TT, any tow vehicle I'm able to afford will likely have mileage in the 150-170k area.

Solar goes direct to outlet.  Battery powered lights. :s  Cooler, not fridge. :(  starter battery died from sitting.

:dodgy:

Not even going to list the reasons no, nope, never, perhaps free for a couple parts.   :D

Turns out this is a scam. It's been listed everywhere, including that it's currently listed in Houston, TX. LOL

Run the other way as fast as you can.  I've been following your other posts and if I understand you don't have a ton of money to put into a TV.  Nobody is gonna give this guy 8K.

He says the battery is dead and it will need a jump, some dents and "may need some work."  Also says he was going to sell it to a dealer for $8000 but he's listing it for $3500.

That dealer better be totally plastered first, that's the ONLY way he'd get $8K :) Funny how I notice now there's no year listed...Never have seen that...

It has been listed in multiple places.  In August 2016 he had a high bid of $14,600 on ebay and THAT didn't meet the reserve.  It all sounds hinky to me.  He says he's staying a hotel nearby and the van isn't registered anywhere right now.  He said he was living in an apt, had a temp plate put on the van and traveled for a month and now he's back in the area but the temp plate expired.  But he was in Houston in August. He admits those were his sales but why would anyone pass up $14k+ for that van?

Well, someone gave him a "low" bid of $14,600 on ebay in August.  LOL

You're right.  I don't have a lot to spend for my home on wheels.  So it's either a reasonably priced van which I build or a TV and a small TT.  I keep waffling back and forth.  I wish the decision were clear cut.

while the sale and van might be legit, the seller sounds sketchy,i would of passed at v10 and he's a fool if he passed on 14k for a 3k rig

one of the first things to ask is,clean and clear title in your name with photo id to prove it

Strange story. He's going to take a $4500. hit by selling on CL? My BS meter is pegged, Use extreme caution with this one.
