Okay, not sure what to say. So I will jump in with both feet. I have been studying and internet researching for the inevitable. Income and out go is not working.
Found some great books, one by Bob Wells for my kindle, searching for a tent and am about to have a moving sale. Whoopie. 40 years ago I ended up in a tent in California. I was younger and scared but I got through it. Now I am older and disabled. (slow but get around) So I have the awful referred to "entitlement" disablitly that I busted my butt for, for 50 years. Till politics take that away. My car is in good health but small 2009 with 11,000 miles. I have been prepping for years so I have emergency equipment and food stuffs.
I am on the east coast so I have been researching south and south west. Figuring how to have an address for my car and medical stuff is making me nervous. Plus finding a new doc once I get on the road.
I won't miss the junk I have collected only my dog. I don't know how to keep and care for her. I haven't found any information on that. So I will be finding her a new home. She is the only thing that has made me sad.
The rest feels like a new adventure in my life. Scarey but kind of "okay this is a new phase of life" I can do this attitude. Maybe if I am lucky I will meet up with some safe people along the way and make some new friends.
That's about it for now. Just gona read some more posts.
kat

Hello dragonfly!! Thank you for the welcome. I have met some people that rescue dogs and place them. So when I find their email I am sure they will find my girl a home. Her loss is the only sadness I feel. The rest is just stuff. Whew, so much of it. 3 bedrooms full, one of them being a fully equipped sewing room. Some one else's dream come true. lol

Thank you Mockturtle... Wow I just peeked at the site. They even handle your car registration. Oh my.
I finally took a little break. I have been reading stuff for days and days and days. No I didn't sleep last night at all. Really not sleeping much at all.
I have started the sorting. Ugh! So far 2 garbage bags of clothes that I am going to donate. I am down to 4 drawers of clothes I need to sort through again that are travel keepers. Holy cow. If I price things right I think I can sell alot of stuff. I'm gonna bet that the 60 inch tv goes first. lol. Been good to watch the football games and NASCar on.

My dog luci knows something is up. She is always at my side but right now she is just linked to me.

Thanks again for the site. Back to work now.......

If your on disability, you shouldn't need to leave a pet for many hours at a time almost every day like going to a job so why not learn to make adjustments with your logistics/timing and keep your best friend? I think the trouble would be worth the friendship.

I agree with Terry. Lots of people live a mobile lifestyle with pets. Check out the "Traveling with Pets" topics and do consider staying together. Best wishes.

27+ years now on the road, riding everything from shanksmare to a school bus.. and always had a dog. Been disabled now for 3+ yrs and.. have a dog. Life without a dog.. isn't worth living. ..Willy.

Thank you, Terry, my vantasy, and Willy. Luci is the only thing that has upset me. She is my buddy. She is my friend, she has been the only one I talk to. It has been so strange to sort things into piles to prepare for a yard sale and feel almost relief to get rid of every thing and so upset over my dog.

That seems almost strange I guess. But she is so important to me.

Willy, when you have to go to the store, or have a doc appointment what do you do with your dog? I couldn't leave her in the car. She would suffocate in the heat. I will have to do my car registration and drivers license and then a doc when I figure out my home location, I want to do the "snowbird thing". Plus I have read that you have to move every 14 days. I will be alone so no one will be there to baby sit. If I am camping out in no where land I can't just leave her there, she could be taken down by the local wild life.

Luci would travel okay she falls asleep or pokes her head out the window. Luci loves riding in the car and does well. She is trained for the potty pads and will potty outside.
She doesn't see to many people where we live so when some one passes or comes to the door she goes nuts till she is petted and made over, but when I take her to the boardwalk she is much calmer and loves all the people. The tourist season starts in May so she won't be allowed on the boardwalk in the day time but we go at 3am and the police on patrol never say anything. She doesn't chew things up, not even her toys. I always take her out on a leash, even though I am surrounded by farm land. I am afraid she would wander too far and a raccoon or fox would get her. I think she would be okay in the tent with me. We both would have new sounds to get use to.

I am going to look at the Traveling with pets topics and see how it works. Oh my if it is possible I would love to take her with me.

It's a darn shame I didn't buy a mini van instead of this little car I have. I would be slow but I would sit on a chair and use my craftsman drill and build my own little get a way van. lol (It would take me years) lol.

Thank you so much for your advice.
kat

I, too, hope you can find a way to keep your dog. My Bucky is my best friend and faithful companion.

Is it Possible to have the dawg registered to be a service animal?

This way, you can take the dawg ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE!

Plus, if you are physically able, just stay outside most of the day (away from your vehicle)
and return to it only at nite for bedtime.

Well I had my hopes up for a bit.... I went to the "Traveling with pets" posts. Doesn't seem like it will be safe for Luci.

Kat, the thought of you giving away your beloved dog breaks my heart, maybe I have a solution. It sounds like you aren't tied to any location, if you come out here and camp with us, I am sure you can keep your dog. There are 6 of us in camp now and all but two have dogs. Come out to Prescott, AZ and join us and I am almost certain we can work it out.

We camp for free in beautiful places and we totally respect each others privacy and need for alone time. We move with the weather so it is rarely an issue. As long as your dog is well socialized, I can promise you that he will be extremely glad he is here.

Spend some time with us and learn the ins-and-outs of boondocking and after awhile you will get the hang of it and you can move out on your own if you prefer, or you can stay with us.

You and luci are ALWAYS welcome in my camp. There is a map to our location on my blog
http://cheaprvlivingblog.com/

Bob Wells

Well, I'm a big fan of solar and solar powered extractor fans. Also, often there's underground or, at the very least undercover, parking available. Also, if you get to know people, they'll often look after your dog for the short period of time required to see a physician. Think about upgrading your vehicle for something taller.. hot air tends to stratify and there tends to be more of a temperature gradient with taller vehicles. ..Willy.

OMGoodness. Mr Bob you have made my day. Bless you, and thank you so much. She is my only link, my only companion. Luci loves people, she will bark to get you to come and pet her and play. When I have taken her to the boardwalk in Ocean city she met other dogs and did well. Timid sniffing. She was a little afraid because my neighbor has a dog that has come after both of us in attack mode. So she is a little scared now but I know if I get her away from him she will come around. Since I live in between farms she is isolated so she barks when some one comes to the door or she hears the neighbor but that should calm down when she has more people to give her attention.

I have a good book on my kindle. How to live in a car, rv or van that helped me locate Marianne in Pahrump, Nevada. She has been so patient and nice and sent me some information. So I have emailed her back and asked if there was a local dog sitter that would watch Luci while I went to the DMV for a couple hours. I am hoping she sends me good news so that is a start. I am going to search on the internet to see if there is a local doctor to set up for my medications so that could take care of Luci for then. When I go into a gas station and get soda she sits in the car well. So I feel comfortable with that. My hopes are up again but I don't want to get to excited yet.

I have been sorting things and studying on stuff. I have alot of prep foods stashed and it is such a shame I don't know any one that preps. Since I am 20 minutes to Ocean city, Maryland you have to be ready for the hurricanes and what they do. My car is small and I don't think I can pull a trailer. It's by GM, Pontiac G3 or GS3. Drats. I don't remember. Last mileage I did was 31mpg. It's a good little car and has sat more than been driven. So just the food would fill up the car. lol I have a large bucket of just beans...that was over kill.. lol Then other large sealed buckets of assorted freeze dry foods. Oatmeal, soup, milk etc. It's suppose to be supplies for over a year. Plus all the #10 cans from Mountain something or other. If you have any ideas on that or some one that would appreciate it. I am open to suggestion.

I have tried to research the climate and stability of Pahrump and Arizona and more southern areas ie: campsites, free sites, 14 day limits, safe areas to go and camp. I have looked at tents on line and that is so confusing. Whew. I am hoping to have every thing done and ready for me to get on the road in a couple months. It's amazing how none of this stuff bothers me to get rid of. Just my Luci makes me break. I read about a tent that you throw in the air and it pops open and then you can get a cover that makes it more sturdy. It has bath tub bottom for rain and all. I think a 2 person tent should be enough for me and Lulubell. I don't know? Should I get a bigger one?

I am starting to do lists. I have to research car insurance. Marianne told me it has to be a company licensed for Nevada. I am scheduling an appointment with my doc so I can have him print out my information for a new doc.

Oh my so many things. I haven't been camping in years so I am excited and a little scared. I just need to find a fold up travel rocking chair so I can watch the sunsets with a cup of cappuccino and experience life again. I am hoping for the best with luci and if she can come with me I will check with the vet for all her vaccinations for the trip.

I'm saying my prayers.
kidie

Mr Willy, Oh for a mini van. That would be so great. I have been looking along the road as I go to the store but I have this blinking sign on my forehead that says sucker. So I know I will get a lemon that some one will laugh when I walk away with it. Little red is sooooo dependable. I will try the tent and if it happens maybe move up to a van. I am going to be thankful if it works out for me to have Luci come with me. Small steps, one success at a time.

thanks
kidiekat

When you go out shopping for another vehicle, have a friend along who has a sign blinking on HIS/HER head that blinks 'MEAN MOFO', and listen to what he/she has to say. Also, don't go with bux to spend.. leave and rethink. Whatever you do, keep your dog. ..Willy.

Maybe I will meet some friends that have the mean mofo on their forehead. lol Right now it's just me and Luci and jeesh, the world sees us coming.

I am trying to figure out how to do a picture on here of Luci. paste is not co-operating and insert is being a bully.

Ah to be computer literate........

kidie
