After lots of years full-timing, and some settled down times..we now have a pretty good 1995 van which is great for trips & camping; we are saving up for a camper van for staying out longer.
We like to live in the woods, mostly, though in our previous incarnations we 'stealth-camped' in cities and towns with swap meets where we sold my artistic creations.
Thrilled to know there is a new wave of free-living folks..van-dwellers. Though we can't stay out full time, we can do 2-3 months at a time, and will.

So, Hi everyone. Hope to meet some of you some day.

Hi OzExpress! Welcome to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi PastTense:

Yes we have a few plans.
About us: We are husband and wife (long time) , live in a sweet little apartment in N. California mountains, tiny town.
We have been settled down too long ! We camped for a week up higher in the mountains a few weeks ago (we live in a National Forest) It was so great! Saw the first array of stars in a long time.

Plans: Drive over to the Coast..nonstop it's 4-5 hours from here but I am not a non-stop kind of person. I like to sit in beautiful places and soak it all in.
Drive up the coast as far into Oregon as we can afford to :) Boondock wherever we can. We have been up that way a few times and the beauty is calling us back.
Plus we miss the ocean.

Other plans: to go into Nevada, which is an hour or so from us..drive down 95 and stop wherever we want to, go to Algadones where H. wants to get some dental work done, and pick up some meds. Boondock all the way.

Prime objective is to get to San Diego where we used to live in RVs, a bus, several vans, more RVs. That is our favorite place in the country!

Gas is the biggest problem..as it probably is for everyone.
We can't go full time anymore thanks to *whatever* made it necessary for us to have a permanent address for absolutely everything..but we accept that, and can be out for 3 months at a time.

M and P (I am the wife. M :) )

Hi Oz, good to meet you.

Don't worry, I'm new-ish, and the people here are wonderful! It's staggering how much these people know about camping/RVing.

Be well - Slim.

Hi Slim:

I have been lurking and learning here for awhile
Our van is not set up for living yet, but is very comfortable. Actually our sons bought it for us, and we think it was a party van..wiring for music well done and lights in the ceiling. We mean to buy a camper van, since we loved living in one awhile ago and loved it. Someone else might want to party in ours ;->
The way that people set up their vans for living is very inspirational! And the knowledge that many people have chosen this as a lifestyle makes us so happy. It is a truly wonderful life and we want to get back to it, as much as possible.

The friendliness here IS amazing. I want to experience it too.
Your welcome is so kind.

M
