Hi y'all,
This forum is awesome! I have been visiting and reading as a guest, but now that I have my van, it was time to register and say HI.
I just bought a 2001 E-350 Ford Econoline extended version with a fiberglass high-top and plan to go fulltime in August 2017.
The van used to be a cargo van, and one of the previous owners put in some conversion-van-like side windows and a wheelchair lift. I took out all his/her custom side walls, trims, and covers from the inside (actually, I am in the middle of it).
Gosh, had I known there was fiberglass insulation behind it, I probably would not have bought this van. If I could turn back time, I would buy a van that is totally naked inside - blank canvas to start the build. Saves you time and negative surprises.
I moved from Switzerland to South Carolina, and I used to have a VW Bus (1985) back in Switzerland, but I used that one for leisure trips on camp-sites only. Hence, I did not have any solar or auxiliary batteries. However, I did build the cabinets and the bed myself. Nothing fancy, just functional.

I work in an office, but I think I can handle some hand tools. The bed and cabinets are the least of my concerns, but I will for sure be posting a lot of questions as I start insulation, solar & batteries, and fan/vent.
Thanks for your help in advance!
