Hi All!
I'm currently living in NJ and hope to hit the road by late Spring or early Summer. I have a 2000 24' Safari Class C. If I could do it over I would have gotten something  a little smaller but I do love this rig. I know you can go further out in a van but I really need to be able to stand up and walk around a bit due to back issues. It needs a little work but it is basically a good solid rig.
I would love to come to the RTR but not sure I'll be able to work that out.
A big question I have is I know there are people who travel in small groups. How do you hook up with a group? I really think at first I'd want some people around for support while I got my sea legs. Thanks for any info and it's great to be here and one step closer to my new life!

Welcome to the CRVL forums, ranger378! No problem hooking up with groups. You just did and this particular group has members everywhere!

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome aboard Ranger!
When you're ready to go post your travel plans and see if there's somebody to link up with along the way.

Welcome to the CRVL  Forum   :)

Let me invite you to check out the lower link in my signature line below.
It is for supporting those venturing out on the road and full of helpful resources
to assist them in planning trips, finding free campsites, and much more.  Spend some
evenings looking through it.   I think you'll find it handy to know about.

Hi, Ranger,
The RTR is a very long drive for you, but if you want to hang with others to get your sea legs, there is no better place.

I did not get to stay last year for the full RTR, but I remember there would be announcements at some of the seminars or around the big campfire about small groups going certain places. Like there were a few who wanted to visit The Slabs, so they announced their intention to go there after RTR and invited anyone else who wanted to visit The Slabs to caravan or meet up there. I think another small group were literally going to "camp down by the river" (the Colorado) after RTR.

So depending on your available time, you could extend the group participation if you chose to.

Thanks for the welcome!. My plan is to go full time and live on BLM and National Forest land. It's killing me that I can't come to the RTR but I just don't think I can work it out.
I'm sure I can find ways to hook up with people once I start though. I don't want to end up out in the desert with no one to talk to or ask for some help if needed. I'm really looking forward to starting my new life!
