I have some camping experience by myself.  I am considering doing it again as my years advance, I long for a less stressful life than the city.  I have considered starting a small organic farm somewhere but good land at the right price goes fast and being tied down in the city has often eluded the opportunity to compete for the properties.  I would love to live on the road for at least part of the year.  I'm an artist and a photographer that would love to produce more.  A lot of the work I do is online so I can work on the road with internet connection.  I've camped out of small vehicles with my airedale and we have managed okay but I would prefer to take up the road again with at least one other person with similar interests.  I have experience as a care provider and I thought there might be some solo seniors who have lost their companions and forced to give up the life instead of roughing it alone.  There is also a possibility someone my age, 51yrs or younger is looking for a travel buddy.  I would like to travel in one of those luxury motorhomes you never want to leave but like I said I have camped out of smaller vehicles and I am very adaptable.  It would not be practical for me to try acquiring a big motorhome just for me and my dog but I would consider buying one with the right companion.  I'm a fun-loving, well traveled person, a professional driver, entreprenuer, healthy lifestyle, political independent conservative.  I am straight and happy single.  I have no problems with platonic or romantic relationships.  I do enjoy my privacy.  I am currently in Los Angeles, CA.  I could meet you elsewhere depending on where you are or we could meet here in the near future.  I don't plan on staying in the Los Angeles area much longer.  If you would like to know more about me, please send me a private message.  I will not respond to public questions.  Btw, I am not excessively shy in person, just extra cautions online.

My dog is 8yrs young.  Loves other animals of all kinds.  Although he gets a little too excited with larger dogs.  He has lived with a young Rottweiller female.  She was extremely shy.  He's been around other breeds like German Sheperds, pit mixes, shelties.  I don't take him to dog parks though because the are too many risks.  Aggressive or dominant dogs would not work with him.  He's always been an only child so he is a bit jealous sometimes.  Nothing that could not be adjusted with time and training.  He was taken from his litter at 8 wks so he was never socialized in a pack.  That experience is something I will give him at some point in his life.  Even just a long-term bond with one other animal would be great.  I've had him for almost 6yrs and we have traveled together quite a bit.  I would love to have another pet for a companion for him, too.  He loves cats but most cats are afraid of him.  He loves bunnies, birdies, and especially little dogs, too.  He has a lot of personality.  Watches tv, has a sense of humor, and communicates with body language more than any other dog I've ever known and that's a lot of dogs.  He is a rescue so there are some things about him I have not figured out, but he is the kind of dog that either loves you or won't let you near anyone else he loves.  Love and patience are the best solution to any problem.  I do discipline him when he is out of line but he is very eager to please so that's not usually a problem.  We are family, I'm his mommy.  We love to go for walks and hiking.  He loves my veggie dishes and salads.  I eat meat too but not very often.  We like sweets once in a while.  And, I make the best organic popcorn, too.  We are looking forward to making new friends here!

My dog is hyper-allergenic (hairy not furry) bug-free, and gets bathed regularly. Also, other than the backseat of my car, he does not like being on furniture. He prefers a rug with blankets or the cool floor to carpets. He has his own toys and a bed so he never bothers my things. He's also extremely housebroken. He has no problems being home alone while I'm at work. He does have a beard, which doesn't bother me but when he drinks water I dry it with his hand towel. He sleeps a lot and doesn't really like to be around noisy, argumentative people. Neither do I for that matter so we are very compatible that way. He likes to play and communicate when he is awake and he will not hesitate to complain if he is tired or hungry or afraid of anything. He loves to hear his own bark but he's not a constant barker and he's not allowed to bark without cause. He doesn't have any other bad behaviors like eating trash or drinking from toilets. He's not even allowed in the bathroom unless I bring him in for some reason. I keep him clean, and always clean up after him. In short, if you love dogs, you will love my dog, too. We are looking forward to making new friends here! (sorry for double posting, I was trying to edit-update and guess I went over 15 min figuring it out)

ps. I'm very much a girly girl, so if you like girls you will like me, too!

Welcome aboard the good ship CRVL Creative Lady !
You sound like a very nice "couple" , I'm sure you'll find lots of friends and advice here.

Most of us have the exact opposite of those large luxury RVs you mentioned but I think your approach to finding a situation is quite unique and , hey , it just might work out really well for you ! (I have a small class C and some of us live in a PRIUS !)

Happy Trails from the spinach guy !

Oh yeah , I see you have posting pictures down pretty good , WE LOVE PICTURES !
Sorry TJB I was first this time , couldn't control myself !

i'll never understand the ones that want the large luxury rv's your either pared in a truck stop on the freeway or in a KOA and you can't get into places you can with a smaller model.. all that money down the crapper for what lol!!! and yes we love pictures didn't bob say at one tome no pics = a 24 hr ban  :D

I hope this works out for you!

Personally I can't imagine tying my dream up with another person, please be very cautious of buying into a RV with another person. before you have found some other way to road test this! There are rental places for all types of RVs & while it might seem expensive its a lot cheaper that finding yourself stranded somewhere.

I wouldn't be using the RV for regular transportation.  I would have my own car to get around into tight and/or out of the way spaces and also to save fuel.  But I think it would be a great idea because I would never have to pay hotel rates to clean up and sleep in a real bed or cook a full meal, maybe bake cookies, watch the SuperBowl or whatever and still have the freedom of the road.  Celebrities travel in Class A vehicles all the time.  It can be too tough.

Thanks RVPOPEYE!  :)  Yes, it is a unique idea.  I searched all over the internet and I can't find any social networks or forums for people traveling in Class A RVs so I thought maybe I could find someone in a smaller vehicle, or a group of people who like the lifestyle and would consider upgrading with the right partner.  I've heard there are supposedly more single women on the road than men but I wouldn't have any problem rooming with men so long as the arrangement was respectful.  And of course, many of travelers are seniors.  Besides being a professional driver, I am also a professional care provider.  I can also help take care of pets on the road.  I'm an artist and hoping to spend more time doing my art and photography.  Traveling in a smaller vehicle gives you only half the experience of the lifestyle.  Having all of the security, privacy, and living space of a Class A would only enhance the experience.  However, when I think about doing it I am a bit overwhelmed with the whole responsibility of driving, insurance, maintenance, fuel, etc.  And I would also want my practical vehicle in tow besides.  Besides the company being good, as those Class A RVs are designed for at least 2-4 people.  It occurred to me that seeking out roommates on the road might be the practical solution.

I think and this is only my opinion, that you should try to come to RTR in 2017. maybe rent a class C for a couple of weeks and come on out. in my mind there is nothing wrong with a class A. but there is nothing wrong with a class C, B. converted van, converted military vehicle, travel trailer, truck camper, car, or an old chevy truck. everyone is an equal here. highdesertranger

Yes, that is a primary risk we take in life on any path.  I would definitely take the time to know the person pretty good before moving in with them like any other living arrangement, only the driver record, criminal background, references, etc would all have to be considered as well due to the higher risk of everything you own on wheels accessible.  That's a double-edge sword.  Everyone involved in this kind of arrangement would want to be sure there assets were insured.  I wonder if standard renters insurance would cover RV living or if there is special insurance just for RV living.  Does anyone else know?

this is only my opinion but I would try to do this on your own. then if you meet someone it's all the better. rely on yourself and no one else. if you rely on yourself you will not be disappointed by other peoples short comings. highdesertranger

First I'll echo what HDR said, this is only my opinion from my point of view, yours will be different.

I reckon the smaller the vehicle is, the greater the experience of the "lifestyle." Lifestyle in quotes because its meaning is also up to the individual. But if by lifestyle you mean getting away from the global civilization machine, and back to our humanity and how we civilize in a more primal, primitive, and I would argue more natural and fulfilling way, I reckon small vehicles expose you to the Earth and its inhabitants more effectively.

I used to adventure on a motorcycle. Sometimes you come down a into a little valley and you can feel the temperature change rapidly when you cross into the cool trapped air. Or the lingering cool of a little splash as you cross a creek on a hot day. And campfires with friends...don't get me started, not a more wonderful time. Looking back at it from home I yearn for that exposure to a more natural world and unrehearsed experience.

By standards around here I've got a big vehicle.

But my stapvan will still only have a single bed and is designed purely for traveling alone. There will be a second chair at the dinette, and the deployed awning will easily keep eight people in the shade or out of the rain. But I want to live a life of parking it pretty much any where I damned well please---alone on the playa for a month, or around a campfire with a dozen other nomads.

For me, a Class A is like dragging today's world---a thing I'm trying to get out of my view---around with me. Again, this is all personal, but I want to get down a dirt road. A stepvan won't get me down a 4x4 road, but it will let me go many more places than your average class A or C RV.

So back to your original point:

Traveling in a smaller vehicle gives you only half the experience of the lifestyle.  Having all of the security, privacy, and living space of a Class A would only enhance the experience.

I really depends on how you define the "lifestyle" you're trying to experience. It seems to me how you visualize producing your photography and art work  will play into that. Under what traveling lifestyle conditions do you think you'd be most artistically creative and productive?
