Thanks for this wonderful community of information and wisdom. I wanted to introduce my situation. My husband and I will be living full time starting Sept 1 in a 30 ft trailer. We have been selling, giving away, and throwing away our "stuff". We always have been somewhat minimalists--- but still can't believe all the things in our life. I recently figured out that due to my health I will not be able to continue a "traditional" 8 hour a day job. At first it was one of those moments that made me feel very sad and hopeless. But then.. I read the book "How to live in a van..." by Mr. Wells and my hope was rebuilt. Both my husband and I have a strong love of nature and brought our 3 children up camping. Many, many fond memories. Both of us practically lived in the woods as children. Me in upstate NY and Scott in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. We both said when we retire we had planned to travel, camp and see the USA. Well it seems that my 50 year old body is ready a little early. Sooo... we are going full time, for the first year staying near his work in Gainesville, FL. We are going to save what we can and hope to be able to travel after that first local year. We will be going to the "workamper rondevous" in Oct in Arkansas in order to learn more. I do believe my husband will be my diamond in the rough though, because he is somewhat of a "jack of all trades". He is a master electrician, but works as facilities management-- he literally can fix or do anything. He is one of the rare ones with actual work ethic and exceeds everyone's expectations with his craftsmanship. We are opting right now for the free hook up/campground host position--for 20 hours of volunteering. I am personally looking at the possibility of #7 spinal surgery in July--so we need to stay close until recovery period is over. I am enjoying the forum and trying to suck in all this knowledge and wisdom. I really hope to be boondocking at some point. I want to experience those remote little places that are such wonderful treasures. Looking forward to our next adventure. It helps so much to have this community to learn from. Thank you.

Welcome to the CRVL Forums   :)

You both sound like you are well suited to  traveling to healthier parts of the world now.   Wish you both well
and happy in your travels and new life.   I think both of you will enjoy the change.

All the best !

Hello & welcome!  I'm dying to know the story behind your very interesting username!

I've been workamping for about 15 years now and you two seem like a perfect fit for that life.
If you can stand the campground life you should be able to score pay plus free site and maybe benefits too.
Everyplace has a different deal so be picky and you can make a decent income .
Do you know about Workamper News ?

I've played camp electrician a lot and have done many of the different jobs. My fave is working in camp store and getting to know the guests (especially the little ones) and finding what they need to make their stay "the best ever" . Way more fun being the concierge type than my least favorite job ,,,security , telling everybody what they CAN'T do and spoiling the fun !

Workamper News is all help wanted ads for campgrounds etc. , it's a subscription magazine . I joined in 1995 and have used it to find many jobs around the country.

https://www.workamper.com/

Another workamper job find site which is all online and free is workampingjobs.

http://workampingjobs.com/

Coolworks is another online listing site.

https://www.coolworks.com/

The National Parks campgrounds and other services are mostly run by concessionaires like Xanterra and Delaware North.

https://www.delawarenorth.com/careers/

Bob has some links here on the CRVL site to a lot of volunteer jobs that he has experience doing too !
