I'm a 56 year-old, near-lifelong Tennessee resident, currently caring for my elderly mother after returning from England a few years ago following the passing of my dear wife. I expect to join the ranks of the free roamers sometime in the next few years, depending on circumstances, and hope to accumulate a lot of veteran wisdom so I can hit the ground rolling when the time comes.
Bob Wells' YouTube videos (and maybe some by others on here) have been immensely informative and inspiring and give me hope that I can make a life along the lines of what I had wanted when I was younger, being outdoors at every opportunity, instead of going back and forth between a building for living and a building for working. I think a big, material purge and seeing more of America will be good for my soul. My wife was an eager traveler, but we didn't get to do much as a birth defect led to a short life for her. We were married for only 3½ years when she passed away at 33. She'll be my companion in spirit, wherever I go.
I'm not overly conversational, especially at first, so I'll probably mainly lurk, soaking in ideas and info for awhile, but hope I can make some connections and contributions over time, so I have some people to wave at once I get out there. This looks to be a lovely and supportive community.
