If I ever start a blog/YouTube channel I think I will call it 40 Years Later. When I was in my late teens and early 20s I wanted nothing more than to travel the country. I planned to move to a city, work a few months until I had enough money to move on. I've always loved to camp, so of course, that was part of my plans. Silly me, I let those closest to me talk me out of it, because, as we all know, something like that just isn't safe for a woman. So I did what everyone wanted. I got married (happily) and had 2 wonderful kids. I've had a great life. However 40 years later, widowed with grown children, the dream of traveling has reawakened and it won't stop tap dancing its way through my brain.

To that end, in January I bought an adorable CRV, took the back seats out and turned her into a great little micro camper. I went on some really fun trips, with my 2 dogs. I learned one thing, I had greatly underestimated my desire for comfort. While camping in the Honda I found myself having serious RV envy. I really wanted more room, especially with 2 medium size pups. On to Plan B, 2 weeks agoI traded the CRV in on a 2003 Toyota Tundra with a V8. Now I'm looking for a suitable bumper pull trailer. I want something small, lightweight and low profile. (I want to travel in Wyoming and the wind there is not a myth) I'm giving serious consideration to an A frame hard sided pop up camper like an A Liner.  My plan is to rent my house, and move into whatever I end up with full time 1/1/18. (Won't that be a great way to start the New Year?)

I look forward to getting to know fellow travelers on the forum and hopefully meeting some of you on the road!

Welcome aboard !
I'd be long gone from Montana by Jan 1st if it were me.
Ice and snow are no fun especially towing a trailer...

Welcome to the CRVL forums Dream True! As you have already discovered, being comfortable with whatever you end up with is very important especially since you're planning on full-timing. If at all possible go to an RV dealer to look at your choices in person. Put the A Liner up and back down. Go through the motions of daily living. Lay on the bed. Check out all of the small trailers to see which is the best fit. Keep us updated and come to the RTR in January!

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

RVpopeye absolutely. I'm going to head the truck south and stop when I'm warm. Thank you for the welcome!

RVwandering great advice. Thank you. Shop at a RV dealer, buy from Craigslist.

The RTR you get to meet so many people I kid you not I saw about 15 Prius there. That is a lot of car campers. All possible thanks to support from health-clubs and WIFI spots open all over the nation. I try and tell people don't seek the means seek the ends first then you will have many options on the means which will clarify your decision making process.

Have you seen the Starcraft 14rb extreme yet? Looks pretty cool for those Wyoming off-road experiences.

I really want to go to the RTR. It sounds so fun.

I'll check out the StarCraft for sure. Durable for off-road is important. Thanks much.

Sounds like you like the same type of set up we would like, although my wife would prefer the Sequioa to the Tundra I think the options like locking diff and tow package are more important. I'm 5'10" and 200 lbs so many small trailers don't fit me, so we built ours to suit us pretty much. It currently sits on a utility trailer, but we may mount it on a car hauler to make it possible to carry a VW buggy or Samurai as well. There seem to be several small trailers but only a few that hold up to boondocking. Our current trailer living area is 11' by 80" but we are thinking a 24' toyhauler might work better as we get older and mobility becomes an issue. At any rate good luck and keep us posted of what you find!

The Sequioas are nice. I went with the Tundra because I found one that had a matching shell. Getting the right set up is a challenge. Everything is a trade off.

Welcome to the forum from one that loves the Colorado Rockies. I left 1/1/17 for the RTR and am just now heading back to my beloved Rockies for the first time in 6 months. The best thing is I get to be there when the weather is nice and avoid the bitter cold.

Comfort is crucial especially when the weather is bad.

You're heading back at the perfect time, the height of wildflower season. I love this time of year in Colorado.

Let's stay on topic. That means read the original post and address what he says.

This is not a Prius thread and I'm deleting all posts about them.

Oh, I apologize Bob...
I have little experience with social media, and thought responses were to be as if participants were at some face-to-face gathering.
I'm learning...

And since you're reading this, I wasn't sure where to place this. :s
I thought of you when I read today's meditation:
