Hello,

A few years in to a campervan build (2004 dodge sprinter 140 high roof) and always looking for more advice. Do a lot of traveling in it to mountain biking destinations. Always looking for more input on the build also.

The project begins:

Welcome to the forum KulAdventures!

Have you checked out the conversions on the CRVL YouTube channel? Bob also does tours of other people's rigs and some are quite clever. Good stuff on there!

Also, here's another one I saw by a YouTuber that made good use of the space (warning, if you have low data it's a 24 min video but worth the time&data if you can afford it, lots of gems in here)-

I look forward to seeing what you do with your build.

Angie

Thanks, I am pretty far along on the build. That picture was from 2015/16 I think. I am now just stuck on how to do the interior build. I have my design, but am struggling with a few things like water storage and shower.

I do have a write up going on other sites too, but they take a lot of work to keep posting them all with all the links to stuff I used so I am working on a site that has all that info, so I can link to that instead of posting the write up info everywhere.

If anyone has done small indoor showers or has a space saving idea for showers, thats where I am struggling right now.

A assume that you've already considered this ( because you've been thinking about your vanlife for years now), but in case you haven't...
A lot of people choose to go the Planet Fitness route. Of course this depends entirely on where you plan to be living, as PFs aren't found in wildrness areas. Here's a thread on the subject -

Alternately, if you are planning on boondocking often, you can diy an outdoor shower in the space behind your door. Its space saving because it doesn't take up floorspace inside your van. You put it up and take it down when you need it. All you really need is a tarp, a clean garden sprayer, and a dowel. This works for a lot of folks. Here's a video of Bob showing how it's done.

Another thing to consider is that a shower, while convenient, is not strictly necessary for hygiene. A basin and a wash cloth works well for keeping your body clean. Depending on your hair, it might be easier to wash it separately outside where you can pour water over your upsidedown head. With a basin you eliminate many of the problemsthat come with a shower- better moisture control, less need for extra greywater storage, less freshwater storage and use, no need for an enclosure/waterproof curtain, no need for plumbing or a tray/platform/tub to stand on.

I know that doesn't strictly answer the OP question, but there are lots of options hygiene-wise that work for different people.

Peace,
Angie

Yeah, I know there are a few options out there. I have done the truck stop showers, the camp bag shower, and no shower. After a bit of traveling I would really like to design some indoor type shower. Is just works more places and makes my trips more enjoyable.

Speaking on the shower, anyone know of any portable shower pans with drains that would be a portable/temporary option?
