Hi there!,  I'm new here though I have been devouring this site for the last several weeks as I plan my escape!   Anyway, a quick introduction and what my plans are for the near future.   My name is Brock and I am 41 years old and single without kids.   I have been a professional poker player for the last 12 years or so (no, not a famous, nor rich, professional like you see on T.V., just a grinder that makes enough to get by).  I usually go travel some in the winter and play in Florida so I figured maybe it's time to just hit the road semi-permanently (I will be back around this way quite often crashing with friends/family too) and see more places as it kind of stinks to go somewhere for, say, 2 months in the winter and still pay rent back here.  So, I have gave my roommate notice that this will be my last month here, I bought a 2002 GMC Safari, and am currently trying to get it somewhat livable so as to hit the road in early September.    Now I just need to start getting rid of some things!    My plan is to travel around the country hitting numerous poker rooms and also spend much time out in the wilderness which always brings me peace.    I lived in a van for about a year, 15 or so years ago, with my girlfriend at the time and really loved it.   So here we go again!  I have run across some questions and problems already in the fixing up of the van even though I am going very simple until spring when I will probably put some time into really making it more like a livable home.    I will put these questions up in the appropriate forums over the next few weeks as I get ready for launch.   So hello, and nice to "meet" you.

Brock! Welcome to the CRVL forums! You've picked a great lifestyle that will work well with your profession. We love to follow members'progress so be sure topost pictures of your conversion!

hi and welcome. remind me never to play cards with you. try to make RTR. highdesertranger

Thank you, thank you! Yes, I will post the pictures of the conversion. I probably won't really dig into it until spring as I am too anxious to hit the road for awhile. So for now it's going to be a sleeping pad, cooler, etc. In the spring I hope to rip everything out and do it up "right". And the RTR, that sounds really cool too. We'll see, it's a definite possibility (i'll bring some playing cards, lol).

Welcome aboard Brock !
You can always post pics of the places you go , we just like pictures , no particular subject.

Hello, and welcome to the CRVL Forum   :)

Since you are in Indiana you are in one of the leading RV manufacturing States.  Elkheart once being the center
of that building (just east of South Bend)  You could find loads of material for your project there.  Supply companies with things you may like to outfit your Van with.

You're welcome to check out my sites below for any ideas or information they hold that could benefit you.

All the best in your travels.

Good point eDJ lots of surplus and salvage parts available there !!!!

Yea, actually I'm from right around Elkhart (and living in Elkhart right now), so when the time comes I should be set. My plan is to take off for awhile in my really simple set up, and then come back around this area in the spring for a spell and start fixing her up. I just don't have the time, will, or money at the moment. And want to see how this Van holds up to some miles on it too. I already talked to a guy about getting a fantastic fan and I think when I need to I can get a pretty good deal on that. That will probably be one of my first projects (that and putting a bed platform so I can put things under it). Thanks for the warm, warm, welcome, what a wonderful forum!

I was in White Pigeon and Elkhart last weekend. Stopped at four or five RV surplus places just for the fun of it. I always pick up a few items I don't need. Just like to kick tires and look at all the neat stuff.

Out West we have a number of " Native American" Casinos. It may not be hard to find work out here.
Welcome to the tribe.
