Hello Everyone.  This is the first forum I have ever joined.  I have been livingdin my 2003 AWD Astro for 2 months now, and have driven from NY to the pacific coast.  I am having a blast, but it does get lonely from time to time so I thought it would be cool to reach out.  I put a utility rack on the back of the van, since I needed additional storage for provisions and water since I boondock for periods up to a week on just what I carry.  Also I installed a 60W solar panel, marine deep cycle battery, mppt charge controller and 400 watt inverter.  Inside, I built a bed that flips up for additional storage.  I had an auto start and secutrity system installed as well.  Hoping to meet some cool people here!

Hello! What area are you in? I'm down near San Diego right now

In Gold Beach Oregon Right now.  Headed south soon...  Was thinking about Santa Barbara...

Santa Barbara is really nice. I just spent a couple weeks there. The Santa Barbara ranger district right nearby is very locked down on camping rules. No dispersed camping at all. Camping only in improved and expensive campsites. A local told me you can just go find a dispersed camping spot anyways and you're unlikely to get a fine if you plead ignorance.

Inside Santa Barbara, go to Hendry's beach. That's much much better than the beach right at the end of State Street.

This sounds like an epic road trip. If you have time and the interest, you should make a post in the "Captain's Log" section. I bet it would inspire many. It would be cool to see pics of your travels.

If you are on the OR coast now and heading south, Hwy 1 would be a great route if you are not in a rush. Many cool coastal towns. Once past the SF Bay Area and Monterey and Carmel, you'll be in Big Sur which is a stunning, rugged part of CA coast. Absolutley beautiful.

Safe travels

Welcome and get ready for some traffic and expenses, I live in San Francisco have for 60 years, if you stay away from the "Downtown" and your easy going it is possible to spend a few nights on the cheap take the I-280 turn off towards Daly City and pull off at the Monterey exit bear left some campers use that for a night or two, you park right next to the interstate on Circular st

Thank you everyone for your advice and replies.  I getabout 20 e been making videthere'sf my travels, some of them are even pretty funny.  Like in upstate NY when I took a bath in a mountain river when it was 40 degrees out.  With swim shorts on of course lol.  I slept at the beach in gold beach last night, was surprised noscops messed with me, I didn't look at the rules.   So far on this trip I have had 0 run ins with any type of authority, I'm sure at some point I will though.
I plan on starting a youtube channel soon,  when I get 20 videos or so, that way there's no pressure in having a video ready to post each week.
