I noticed since I just created the account I have insufficient privileges to reply in threads. Maybe starting here will get that going?

Anyways I'm in KY and have a very budget and strip-able setup with a twin size bunk, 6' stand up height, lots of tools and 1 passenger plus myself and 2 dogs comfortable capacity. Glorified primitive with 1lb propane powered cook/heat/instant water heater, two coolers, and 5 gal water jug with aluminum pot as a sink. Extension cord to a power strip in here for coffee maker, a tiny tv dvd antenna setup etc, but can squeak by for a night with fans on using my Ryobi 40V power source and multiple packs.

I hope this place inspires me to purchase a lithium battery and solar panels in the future.

I am interested in images of the interior space of a service truck. Lots of outside storage. Found one for sale online, but no images of the interior, just the exterior and the cab interior.

I've been reading up on the caravans and free camp places for eastern US and I think my place could be pretty cool for a 2-5 vehicle short term pit stop...it meets a lot of criteria for a decent building/project/repair place and a staying space as it's pretty much unrestricted country land. Close to Blue Licks Battlefield Kentucky State Park. Ammenities like public library, auto parts store, and gas station/deli within 5 min of my place, Wal-mart Lowes Krogers etc within 30 min... it's 30 acres with running water, elec and decent amount of graveled area. Lots of mechanic, air, and power tools on site and in my van, from small welder to air grinders to fuel pressure testers to drills and circular saws... can barter for pulling weeds in the garden or other property maintenance during your visit.

It's a work in progress, has multiple primitive tent camp sites to hike or ride a bike to if that's your thing, I mow paths through the whole place. One day I hope it's a foragers dream full of native and planted trees shrubs and plants to harvest fruits berries nuts and herbs from. Think permaculture food forest orchard garden sanctuary :) Where happy people can cook up bfast and dinner in a common area, with a great view!
 
When i got it the panels blocked thru-passage and over-cab storage so cutting out was 1st thing I did.

About 9600 lbs. With full supply and passenger load. 5.4L V8, 4.10 rear gear does just fine! 6.8L V10 would be cool, but we get what we can when we can. My truck has the V10 with 3.73 gear and its fine for everything too.

Im not sure of the towing capacity of this van loaded, but i test pulled my 16' trailer empty ~2500 lbs. with no issue at all.
 
I saw a similar plumbing contractor with side-access doors at a filling-station in Junction City, Oregon.

Chatting while we filled, I mentioned "That would make a great camper!"
The plumber replied "I might go there if business drops off..."
Yes 12' box is right about the size where having a full size side door would be nice, at least there's barn doors on this and I can secure the non-latching side w/ a bungee to have an OK single rear door operation. I have a heavy duty 20' box trailer as well with the big sliding door that's noisy and cumbersome...awaiting a plan to change that and possibly add side entrance on it. Mainly because it's basically stationary and a deck and awning on the side would be great.

Everyone I know is super busy with work...too busy at the moment! But we'll see how summer treats that trend.

re -- side-entry vs rear-entry

We fabricated a porch and roof on the rear of our ExpeditionVehicle.
.
Advantages:
* use existing structure to enter/exit instead of a stowaway ladder or steps
* the porch roof can be built to -- in our case -- bash limbs during a 'Braille back-up'
* a permanent position deck is predictable during a food-coma or night-time stroll
* in our case, the deck locks down to protect our ancient AGM bank mounted between the frame behind the axle.
