Hair cuts?

How do you guys handle hair cuts?

I figure I could handle a one length fits all with a set of clippers but squaring up the back will be a pain.

I just can't see me shaving my head and just letting it go is harder to keep clean.

There is alway getting one when in town I suppose.

Trimmers at the shortest setting. Saves money on shampoo, just soap the dome and away you go. If I need that 'professional' look then a barber who can do a real haircut. But my days of job interviews and/or working for that matter, are in the past.

cant remember the last time i had a professional hair cut,i shave at 1/4-1/2 inch spring,summer and fall and let go through winter

do spend the extra bucks for a good set of clippers

My $20-a-month "Black Card Membership" at Planet Fitness entitles me to free haircuts. Not all Planet Fitness locations have hair cutters, though, so the occasional paid haircut is required.

It's important to not look like an indigent homeless person if you don't want to be treated as such (my opinion)

I've been shaving my head and face for year as I went bald. The past year I moved to a safety razor and the savings have been immense over cartridges.

Although it's not the easiest thing to do, you can use a handheld mirror reflecting to a larger mirror (like on a bathroom wall) and trim the back.
I have a cheap "professional" haircut every so often to tidy things up.

We have several sets of clippers and trimmers. I'm just use to Zach doing it that's all. #4 on the sides/back, #6 on top, whitewall the ears, even the sideburns and clean up the back. Same if I go to Great clips.

There are plenty of vids on youtube of women cutting their hair with clippers. Takes a bit of practice, but my cuts are usually up to what I'd get from a $40 haircut (DC suburbs, so high $).

If you can find the clipper and comb guides alone, most of the accessories in that package are unnecessary.

I am female but cut the hair of two males also. I bought these, price has went up, but they last and last. The guard slides up and down, 2 separate ones, allowing a max link of about 1 3/4". I have cut my hair that short by myself without an issue. Now, growing it out, I added other tools.

This which is good if your hair is thinner and although for the bangs, I do use it on layers since it doesn't slip.

I have used a Wahl clipper with comb attachment to cut my hair for 10+ years.  Use one length (1/2" or 3/4", depending on season) and cut every two weeks.  I don't worry about blocking the back; since the hair is the same length it lays just fine.  Use the 1/8" comb to cut eyebrows.  That clipper has paid for itself many times over.

I use a wahl clipper with a 3/8 guard, then take the gaurd off for the bac, which I do very well by feel

yes i use those cutters. 1/2 inch size attachment, go over my head from many directions until i don't hear clipping. As i dance-in-public, i do this two times a week or so. for the back, i find the 1/4 inch attachment and estimate the edge and then run down my back as far as i can. this is all best to do if you can shower the hair away. but, if not, i have a small towel with talcum power to dust the clippings from my body and ease the tickles.

I get one maybe once every 6 months. I go to a barber shop around here and they are pretty nice, affordable.

Well not bad if I do say so myself. Got up the nerve this morning and had thought to make it easy using a #4 all over but tried running it just up the sides and back first. That worked so I switched to a #6 for the crown, trimmed around the ears and evened up the side burns. I haven't figured out the back yet but at least I look respectable.
