Hi everyone!  New guy here.  I'm a 45 yo man who, due to recent events, is considering becoming a full time nomad.  I've been following Bob Well's YT channel, as well as some other nomad YouTubers, for a little over a year.  I spent a couple of years living off grid and traveling around the Northeast when I was in my twenties so life on the road isn't exactly new to me.  However, now I am faced with the possibility of having to sell my home and head out on the road permanently.  I'm still a little on the fence as to weather that is the right choice for me.  I am hoping that I can avail myself of the forum members' experience and knowledge as I consider my future options.

Kindest Regards,
Troubadour

Welcome Troubadour to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome to the CRVL Forums  :)

I started out years ago right out of school doing similar to what you did.  You can read "My Own Story" in the first link below....."Van Conversion" (link at the top right of site)

A person can always get into and out of this way of living.  Keep the rig for weekends and vacations if he/she enjoys dabbling in the life style while in the sticks and bricks.  (great way to get a new perspective on life from time to time and avoid being consumed by the industrial complex mentality)

There are many options in this and I suggest keeping them all open to find your own best fit.

Welcome - I hope you only do this if you feel a commitment to it as a fun and viable way of life. Otherwise.. well, I'll say it isn't always easy for a variety of reasons. But if you love it, you deal with it.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome! @eDJ_: Thanks for sharing your story and experience. I hope, should I decide to commit to this lifestyle, that opportunities will open up for me like they did for you. @travelaround: There is much that is appealing to me about the nomad lifestyle. Like I mentioned, I spent a few years back in the late 90's/early 2000's traveling around for work. It wasn't always easy and, although I didn't live full time in my vehicle at the time, I learned quite a lot about making do with less and how to enjoy solitude without feeling lonely. At this stage in my life I have different challenges than I had back then. I'm hoping I can have solutions worked out for most of those challenges before I head out on the road.

Kindest Regards,
Troubadour

Hello troubadour welcome to the forum. Keep us informed of your journey I hope you find what you’re looking for.

Welcome back to the road, if you don't have to sell your house I'd recommend keeping it as at some point if we don't die on the road we'll want a home to go back to. If you do have to sell consider what you'll be comfortable driving and sleeping in as well as potential repair costs. Older is cheaper

Hi! I am also new here. Your post sounds exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. I would follow your heart and perhaps keep the house for as long as possible if that's a viable option while on the road. I wish you all the best!
