Hi,
My husband I are currently living in our new travel trailer and will be setting off this May for our first extensive trip. We are setup in Arizona right now and our ages are 57 and 60.  We will be retiring early (in May 2017) so health care is a concern.  We will be pulling our monthly income from IRA and 401K.  We thought about setting up residency in Florida but our tags are due now.  We don't have time to go that route this year.  How do I learn about which plan to choose? We don't want to do Christian share.  Please help.,
Doug and Maleia

That Christian Healthcare Ministries looks like an interesting option...never heard of it, but definitely going to take a closer look.

As for states that offer the best assistance with premium reduction in Obama care, all I can tell you that I'm pretty sure Florida is among the worst...

Welcome to the CRVL forums Maleia!  Health insurance is a confusing muddle right now because of the change in political parties so what is good now may not be in a few months but you can do some research here - http://www.rverinsuranceexchange.com/
The Escapees RV Club has been around for years and is geared to fulltime RVers so their information is usually pretty accurate.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started.   We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome to the forums. Whatever State that you reside in, (or claim to), is where you buy your insurance. If you get ill while on "Vacation", it should still get you immediate care wherever you are, but you might have to return to your state of residency to complete treatment. I retired at 55, (62 now), no insurance carrier in my area offers a nationwide plan.

Some people pick a State for residency that is central to where they plan to hang out so that they can get back there in a hurry if need be, (jury duty, drivers licence renewal, medical, etc). Changing residency to say Nevada, (for better tax purposes), may make things inconvenient if you spent a lot of your time on the East coast.

I have a nationwide plan. Covers only inside the USA. I can get a temp addition if I travel to Canada or Mexico for "vacation"

I don't know if this plan is available outside of Medicare part B, Plan F.

For that matter, I don't know if it will be affordable next year even!

RoamingKat, could divulge the name of the company you're with?

Maleia, DannyBoy is correct. If you have your insurance in one state, and then have a medical emergency in another state, you should be covered. Last Nov, my brother was in the process of moving from WA to NV, and had a heart attack in Pahrump. The local facility called for a ambulance, which took about 8 hrs to show up, and then they refused to take him to Las Vegas to the heart facility there, because his condition had deteriorated while he waited. The facility arranged for air transport (the bill was $45,000, he ended up paying $200), and the hospital in LV did a triple bypass. In the meantime, his girlfriend got his insurance changed from WA to LV.

You still have to get your routine care from your home state, but if you don't put things off, that shouldn't be much of a problem.
