Hey wheel-dwelling community,
I'm SO glad to have found how to talk with you! I have wanted to connect and have watched 100's of hours of Bob and Carolyn videos - I know you are my tribe and I want to introduce myself AND meet you.
Here's my van-dwelling story (I chose it before I knew you were out there):
My momma died in Jan of 2017. It was tough. I miss her, but her passing turned out to be a blessing. Let me explain: I had moved her to my town a year before - memory care. We had SO much awesome time together. And then it ended unexpectedly.
As I was preparing to return to work, a call from my son ****** the rug out: he had been diagnosed w/ a terminal brain tumor (GBM). I spent nearly a year trying to keep my well-loved job as a pedoatric speech therapist while making monthly/weekly trips to his town over Vail Pass in the winter. Had mom not passed I don't know how I could have helped my son. 6 months after multiple operations, radiation and chemo, my son had a seizure, that was it. He couldn't drive his girl to school nor could he be alone with his 2-year-old.
I knew I had to quit work and move. Seriously THAT was when I thought if I had a van, I could live in his driveway and be available yet autonomous.
A friend offered to buy a house in my son's town in which I could live to be near him. That is where I live now, but I am one of your tribe (I quit counting addresses years ago at #44). I know I AM a natural nomad and hope to meet many of you at the upcoming RTR. I May be on a temporary 'campout' in my truck, but I'm watching vids, taking notes, and making plans for my natural lifestyle.
