Thanks to everyone that sent good thoughts and prayers my way this week. It made a tough week better.

We got my brother home in one piece with a jumpstart on a full recovery, and many more years of his bad jokes. I still cry when I look at him in his funny support hose and think "I could have just been attending his funeral". I am so full of gratitude for second chances.

In this midst of this, the van has been in for repairs and I know you guys will understand when I say that though I have the farmhouse to stay in, that isn't home to me. I got the van back today and was sad because the bill was several hundred more than I expected. So I was tootling down the road and thinking that was okay cause it was all necessary and in view of the past week, all small stuff.

I stopped at the little rural grocery store recently bought by a young foreign couple who have not recieved much of a welcome....in fact, they have been boycotted because they are foreign. I try to stop when I can, because they are sweet and kind and deserve better.

Knock my socks off, I walk in and their freezer is busted and I am talking about a giant double upright freezer full of beef and chicken and pizzas and vegetables and lasagna and snacks starting to melt. They gave it all to me.

Let me tell ya, it was like christmas. They loaded up the vans with box after box of food. The closest soup kitchen was 30 miles away. Much of this cannot be refrozen, and the soup kitchen is closed and none of my contact numbers are working, so I just got to go on a joy ride in my Rondysleigh and made a whole bunch of local families facing hard times EXTREMELY happy. We many of us shed some tears, let me tell ya.

I have so much gratitude to a young couple who gave from their heart to a community that has been pretty stingy with theirs. And I am grateful for the opportunity to have been given a chance to be part of it all, to be part of the
ripples moving out into the world. Just wanted to share that with you all.

Katie,
sorry to hear about your Brother, but glad he is going to pull through.

That is a nice and not nice story about the store. So sorry they are being ostracized by the community. Well Girl, that was a very nice thing you did, sharing with others. Most would have kept it all for themselves and to heck with anyone else. Shows the kind of person that you are, the kind of person that we have come to admire here! What a heart warming story after such a bad week for me as well.

Makes being here for so long, worth while just reading about others helping out.

Katie...its nice to see "good" win the day instead of evil. Its funny how even the bleakest moments can turn around to be some of the most treasured one's. I'm glad you'll be tolerating more of your brother's jokes and I'm hoping some of those ignorant people will see the light of compassion because the one they condemned showed it to them. Thank you for such a heart felt story.

Katie: The more I read about you the more I admire you. Btw. I have been reading old posts here trying to get caught up on all the information and people and I think you do a great job. Nora
